AJ Long medically disqualified due to multiple concussions..transferring

A little different, but what you are saying is more likely. Hadn't thought of it that way.
Would explain the push for more qb's in the current class if they knew long was going to have to step aside for medical reasons.

Hey CUSU-

Us Clarkson guys do have to stick together! I know you were thinking of coming to UVa tailgate. We'll have 4 Clarkson guys there. I've got 2 free tickets for you and I'll throw in the tailgate tickets too, plus we'll keep you well beveraged, if you can make it. Let me know.

AJ has been great for this team. Filled in when hunt when down. Even though he wasn't ready. Has fought hard to overcome many things. Has helped out on the recruitment of new players. Most notably Moe Neal. We would be lucky if he decides to stay here for a long time in some capacity.

this is so true. IF AJ does end up leaving, i would hope the fickle Cuse fan base would realize that we need10 kids like him every class to be the voice of the Orange among young people and recruits. He probably has been recruited over, but he is not a scrub. He could EASILY win the backup job next year. Lets not go too crazy with the Mahoney talk. And one of both of the frosh will RS.

I am a fan of AJ's, kid stood up as a true freshman last year and gave it his all. Very athletic QB that I would not rule out in any capacity, hell he may red shirt this year and be a tough competitor for the QB job next year...or perhaps he moves to WR or some other position. Bottom-line IMO, he is a good athlete that has every chance to contribute if he works hard.

Does anyone on here really know what is going on with AJ or is everyone just making assumptions and speculating?

Here means Syracuse which means he's going to Lemoyne...you guys are soft sometimes :)

Would be a tough loss for the program. Hoping it's not a medical issue and he can stick around. I'm still not convinced he couldn't be a great college QB but with Dungey seemingly entrenched I think he could thrive as a safety here.

If it is medical hopefully he still stays in the program somehow. With his competitiveness and outgoing personality I think he would make a great coach.

Yes, I know that at least a couple people know what's really going on. CL and Heater both know, for example.

And you just threw yourself in the fire as we know that you know that we know. Ya Know.
They are on to you Jek, those in the know now know who knows they are in the know.

I'm never sure what people mean when they say that. Do you mean the staff continued to recruit more players, preferably the best they can get? We do that for every position and every player-What's the alternative?

if he can't play and this injury has to do with his small stature, it's worth discussing whether he should've seen the field last year.

There is no alternative, that's what you should be doing. It's just the term to describe it.

As much as I'm intrigued by Mahoney's potential, I think AJ is probably #2 going into next season. Rex is a big ? and could very well be #2 or even #1 next season, or a redshirt.

Yup, I think after this redshirt year, he gets healthy, gets his mechanics cleaned up and is the #2 QB next season. Mahoney's play in the LSU game was gutsy and amazing, but he made about 5 or 6 throws in that game that could be candidates for worst throw of the year in all of college football. AJ has much better long-term potential, and I would feel a lot better with him as the #2.

Unless his arm is unable to make the throws post nerve damage. Then ?

Well obviously if there is a medical issue and he is retiring/changing positions, then his long-term potential at QB takes a bit of a hit, I would say.

I don't have the inside info that others do - but if I had to guess...
