Hey CUSU-

Us Clarkson guys do have to stick together! I know you were thinking of coming to UVa tailgate. We'll have 4 Clarkson guys there. I've got 2 free tickets for you and I'll throw in the tailgate tickets too, plus we'll keep you well beveraged, if you can make it. Let me know.

Well, Shafer has a Q&A with the local media today. We'll see if anything gets brought up then, I suppose.

I hope he can play again, but if not, he would make one hell of a coach someday.

I hope so.
I hope so as well. It's better to cut off speculation early and get out any news on the University's terms rather than letting people concoct theories and stories over the next few days.

I'm never sure what people mean when they say that. Do you mean the staff continued to recruit more players, preferably the best they can get? We do that for every position and every player-What's the alternative?
Recruited Over = Incoming players with more talent/better fit for the system will immediately (or almost) move ahead of the incumbent player on the depth chart.

From a staff/fan perspective, it's a good thing because the team is getting better. From the incumbent players viewpoint, not so much, as the possibility that they will never see the field again has increased. One "stigma" is that the incumbent has disappointed in some way and is being replaced, but that isn't always the case. Injuries, system changes, and plain getting interest from elite players can also be factors.

Some players will see the writing on the wall and transfer someplace where they can get more playing time before their eligibility runs out. Others will stay and fight for their positions and may or may not rise to the challenge.

The other type of recruiting over involves adding higher-rated players at the same position as someone already committed in a recruiting class. This can get murky depending on what promises were made to the initial recruit. If someone was swayed by an expectation of early playing time, they may reconsider if we bring in another player in the same class that the "experts" feel will relegate him to the bench for his entire college career.

Nevermind. Was not addressed in the Q&A but expect something from SU tomorrow. If I had to bet, I'd say they'll release something in the morning, that way they can address it during the ACC teleconference and be done with it.

So then it is quite obvious that he will no longer be playing football at SU, for whatever reason. They wouldn't be "releasing" that he is making a position change.

"The writing is on the wall" posts is a bunch of crap. This kid is one of the biggest supporters of this program. Don't you all remember Dungey getting knocked out of the CMU game three weeks ago. Remember last year when we lost Hunt and Wilson? Who did we turn to. Yup, AJ Long. He did the best he could as a true Freshman and people complain.

What happens if Dungey gets put out for the year (in 2016)? God forbid. We really don't have a plethora of 5 star quarterbacks on the roster to slide into his place. I personally thought Long was serviceable as a Freshman quarterback. Maybe not as good as Dungey but better than what we had before Nassib was here.

Please stop posting garbage on this site. I know some of you don't mean it but the kids read our posts. If you want to post the garbage you can go to the other Syracuse blog. I am sure they will welcome you there.

I hope he is medically okay and can contribute in some fashion.

This thread is pointless unless someone in the "I know something you don't know" crowd is willing to share.

The people in the "I know" crowd were trying to put an end to certain speculation.

I agree though, because those people are not at liberty to share, this thread is pointless until something is released to the press.

Agree to a point Rocco. Writing on the wall as far as being the starting QB, correct. What AJ needs to realize though is that he's an athlete. He has good speed as demonstrated when he out ran the LBer in the WF game last year. He needs to suck up his pride and admit that the starting QB job is probably not in his future. Joe Haden was a top notch QB out of Virginia that went to Florida. Urban converted him to CB and now he's a premier CB in the NFL. AJ needs to realize that things change and if he's willing to change, so can his future change, maybe beyond what he originally dreamt of.

Dude this is a total post since you have absolutely no idea what is really going on.

You will feel bad when you find out what's going on.

Pretty much what has been alluded to the last few days.

Feel terrible for the kid. AJ is a leader who has done a lot for this program, even though he hasn't played much. He was a boon on the recruiting trail, he has a tattoo, and he bleeds orange. Hope for the best for his future--big fan of AJ Long.
