Alabama deseperate for 2015 game

Bama played at Duke in 2010 so they would play @ Syracuse IMO . I went to a doubleheader in September 2010 Georgia Tech@ North Carolina, and Alabama @ Duke. I had to tickets to the Carolina game and then tailgated around Wallace-Wade which had more Crimson than Blue/Black that day.

Newsflash Syracuse doesn't play in the MAC they play in the ACC. Which means they play Clemson, Lville, Miami, Pitt, BC, and this school called Florida State, perhaps you have heard of them????

I dont covet mediocore bowl games I covet this team having a winning record, having success in the recruiting trail, continuing to rebuild back to former glory and getting to actually play in mid to good level bowls.

This team is no where near ready to play a schedule that includes LSU and Alabama in the same year not even close. What positive comes out of Syracuse getting absolutely embarrassed by Alabama in front of a non sold out stadium that would probably be half Bama fans? If you think a one time game against Alabama is going to somehow solve Syracuse's attendance issues then you dont know this program.
I respect this position. We all want an 9-10 win season badly. I don't like the thought of playing LSU/Alabama in the same year, but it wouldn't kill the program. We would need to go 2-2 in the non-conference games, then 4 of the 6 non-FSU/Clemson ACC games.

The position of having a future home game with Alabama would be a season with more season ticket holders and have a chance to build the fanbase. 2015 will be our strongest team in a while, and if we had a chance to play Bama/LSU it would have the best chance to be competitive. I don't endorse the idea, but its something I would consider.

A game against Alabama kiling the program is objective. If Syracuse finishes 5-7 that year or lost a couple players due to injury that game then playing Bama would be a killer for that season. Would it harm the program beyond that season of course not but honestly theres no good reason for Syracuse to play Bama, really there isnt. We have zero chance of winning and losing someone long term to injury is almost guaranteed.

I think you make the argument very rationally and I would be fine if we followed this advice.

If they were not interested in pursuing this game I wouldn't be really bummed out. If it did happen I would be excited to watch it. The pro's and con's of having or not having the game are a wash to me.

If SU played in the MAC, it would behoove them to play both LSU and Bama in the same season. If SU played in the MAC, it wouldn't be playing FSU, Louisville and Clemson each season. Since SU is in the ACC and is already playing those ACC teams I mentioned plus LSU, there is no reason to add Bama.

Stop making sense.

Good job.

Tuscaloosa to Durham: 586 miles
Tuscaloosa to Syracuse: 1,104 miles

Duke is within their typical travel radius, which could've factored in on the decision to take a "home" game on the road. Not saying they wouldn't send the crimson caravan up north, but it's not a sure bet.

We're not ready? Someone might get hurt? Don't want hurt the team's psyche? We might not make the Meineke Potato USBank Bowl? Lace em up and play the freakin game! I hate that we play MAC schools at all (as do apparently the home fans dressed as empty seats). I hate that we play FCS teams (see prior). I'd rather go 7-5 with a loss against Bama than 8-4 with a win against Stony Brook. It's called big boy football. Lose your inferiority complex, the GRob days are over. And as far as next year is concerned...MD and ND suck. SU is better than that now. No fear!

Literally every FBS program in existence had played FCS teams except for ND, UCLA and U$C. It doesn't make sense for SU not to. It's a near-guaranteed win that counts toward bowl eligibility, and it does not have to be returned the next season in the opponent's stadium.

And as for playing not wanting to play MAC teams, who should SU play in its four non-con games every season? The SEC? The B1G? The NFC East?

Yep. Sign me up for Kentucky, Purdue and the Jets (Geno Smith? No fear!). I understand playing a MAC or WAC or whatever other lower conference BCS team. Don't care what everyone else is doing, playing FCS teams cheats your fans, cheats your players out of real competition. In 2015 we're already going to play a MAC and FCS school. An opportunity is there, take it. You never know. Good thing we weren't afraid to play Nebraska back in 1984 (even though they beat us 63-7 the year before) or we'd have missed out on one of the greatest moments in program history. You can't win big games if you don't play big games. By the way in 1984 our "non-independent" schedule consisted of Nebraska, Maryland, Florida and Northwestern. How many people remember that SU lost the next 3 games after upsetting #1 Nebraska?

not in 15 or 17 but would definatwely ask them about a 1-1-1 maybe something like 2018 at bama,19 at metlife and 20 at carrier dome with 2 mil buyout if they cancel the 3rd game

We have LSU, Central Michigan, 1-AA TBA, and 1 TBA for 2015. The first 3 are all at the Dome so the 4th game has to be on the road.

Anybody want a stupid series with Alabama? If we didn't have LSU I would have liked to seen Bama come up to the Dome eventually as Saban owes for 2003 when we beat Notre Dame for LSU to jump USC for the NC game. Maybe that is why LSU agreed to play us.

We're going to be playing them in the 2015 national title game, I don't want to give them a rematch unless they come to the Dome.

When you finish off at the Olive Garden, you don't get a nightcap at Outback? Loser...

Saban schedules a recruiting weekend with a lot of guys on his b and c list and lets Shaf and MacDreamy take a run at them, so to speak. Quid quo pro.

What the happened to the syracusefan.com i used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? This could be the greatest game of our lives. But you're gonna let it be the worst. Oh, we're afraid to go to Bryant-Denny Stadium with you Shrmdougluvr, we might get in trouble. Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm all-in on playing the Tide! Saban, he's a dead man ... Coker dead ... Kirby Smart ...

We have short memories. Syracuse wasn't competitive in 1/3 of the regular season games last year. FSU, Clemson, GT and Northwestern all t-boned Syracuse.

Lost 48-27 Northwestern Wildcats
Lost 49-14 Clemson Tigers
Lost 56-0 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Lost 59-3 Florida State Seminoles

IMO, HCSS and company need to prove they can prevent this before Syracuse adds LSU and Alabama in the same year.

:bang::bang::bang::bang:

A dollar and a dream. That would be brutal but I have to admit I want revenge for that 61-6 game back in 54?. Darn, now all the hot girls (guys for you ladies on the board) want to date us. SU is George Costanza in super model land.
