And then there were two, the Cavs and Warriors

Golden State employed the defensive strategy the Hawks should have. The Hawks let everyone go off by doubling all day, every day. Lebron can't beat you by himself, he can come close, but he's not winning a series going 1 on 5.

Yea, everyone was real quick to say well, well, well, look at JR and Shump in Cleveland with Lebron and away from Melo. Never mentioning that JR couldn't handle NY and this is who Shump is (a solid 3 and D guy). This is the JR us Knicks fans are used to and Melo has never had anyone close to as good as Kyrie played last night.

Yeah, not sure what skurey is seeing out there. LeBron went iso so many times last night. He did get hit a few times coming across the lane, but he dished out just as good as he got. He lowers the shoulder and bulls through people a ton.

One thing I did learn last night is that I have no idea what is a legal or illegal screen. Big men from both teams just knock guards out of the way at will, extending arms or maintaining the block (which is what they really are) while moving their feet.

Lebron easily committed a half dozen blatant offensive fouls--elbow hooks, push offs, etc.

The guy is nearly impossible to stop as is, when the refs allow that stuff to occur you have virtually no chance to slow him down.

I think Lebron in the post is akin to Shaq in the post; basically impossible to officiate. He's so much stronger than the guys that are checking him, I don't know how you decide what is and isn't a foul. He takes a lot of punishment as well.

That's true, and I've been banging the JR is JR drum more than anyone, but Lebron does more than anyone to make role players look good. There was one shot JR took last night when he tried to do a stepback on someone (cant remember who) and he got blocked. On like a 22 foot jumper. LOL.

It's less obvious when he is dribbling with his right hand, but when he's dribbling with the left hand, he just straight up pushes away guys with his right hand. This is why the NBA is annoying to me. LeBron could still be the best player in the world if he played by the rules. And I actually don't fault him for doing what he does. The NBA has decided that's the way it's going to be, so why not take advantage of that?

Some people will say all superstars get that treatment but it's really not true. Melo and Dwight Howard definitely are not allowed to bulldoze their way to the basket like Lebron did last night. If they were, they too would be absolutely unstoppable. Blake Griffin has a similar post game to Lebrons but Blake isn't even allowed that level of aggressiveness.

Agree 100%. I credit the officials for letting both teams play, but when one player blatantly pushes off to clear up space to get a mid range jumper off, it is a text book call. Or it should be.

No doubt that Lebron takes a lot of punishment, as well. But he dishes out just as much as he gets. Did you see that elbow hook he delivered making that spin move in the 4th quarter? If that isn't an offensive foul, what is?

Ratings up 24% compared to last year. 12.9 for game one.

That's interesting. I wonder what that can be attributed to. New match up? Lebron v Curry draw?

A la Jordan/Brian Russell? ;)

I agree btw.

Exactly.

EDIT - Can you imagine the difference if they had actually blown a whistle on that play on Jordan? Wonder what that would have done to his image.

I was agreeing that yes LeBron does tend to use his off arm, sometimes more blatant than not. But if you're going to allow people to clutch and grab at him without calling a defensive foul then it's only fair to let him give a little fight back.

There is a lot of it in the league and I actually don't think it's as big a deal as some. But that is a style preference thing. It just doesn't bother me. But, people also need to consider Dwight Howard's dropping of the shoulder (which gets called more than LBJ push IMO) and Shaq used to decimate people with his frame that created an advantage. Blake is the same way. But LeBron gets away with it more than anyone that's for sure.

This series is over. Lebron scored 44, the Warriors played their C plus game and they still won.

Kyrie: fractured left kneecap, surgery required; out 3-4 months

bomb. And he was playing so well last night. Kid's a great player, fear his career is gonna be injury plagued. It has been so far, even his one year in college. The line for Sunday's game, btw, just moved about a point to 8, 8 1/2. .

It's unrelated to the tendinitis, according to Cavs.
I know they say that but I cannot believe "coincidentally" this happened. Lots of shady behind the scenes stuff has been going on between Kyrie's people and the Cav's doctors, coaches and players.

Would like to see Cavs go bold and start JR instead of Dellavedova and go a little deeper and give the Matrix a few minutes here and there.
