Always was rooting for Anwar. Use to live about 2 blocks from Salem HS in Virginia Beach, and one of my kids graduated from there (quite a few years before he graduated).

Kind of weird that the three high schools my kids graduated from had someone attend Syracuse on an athletic scholarship. None of them really ended up doing much.

I wish we could pull more Shamarko Thomas and Brandon Sharpe type kids from down there. This staff doesn't seem to have historical connections to the 757 though. I love what they're doing in MD though.

I loved watching Shamarko play! Kid was a beast, even with the Steelers. For what? One / Two seasons?

I just remember his combine numbers being crazy. 4.4 40, 40+ inch vertical like 30 reps of 225. Kid was an animal

Sparrow can be an impact player for us next year, on an otherwise thin and inexperienced unit, so keeping him in the fold was UUUUUGE.

Sure, but why aren't other players making the same decision? Maybe they are and I'm not hearing about them (other than one or two), but we've had two come back, plus Reed say he's playing a 5th year at SU due to the new JUCO ruliing.

And i just mean that some players realize it’s not worth the headache of musical chairs, get a better deal to stay, etc

Clearly Fran has built a very strong culture already, but we’ll always have people leave. Happy Sparrow isn’t though

My point is there is definitely something with our culture to have 2 players bounce back and another commit for his 5th season (when he could have easily gone to the portal). CDRW and Davis were no-brainers going into the portal. Sparrow, a starter next year, would have pointed to either NIL-related or culture-related.

I think Reed said he was playing a fifth year but did not say it was at SU.
