I think they had a plan but Ricky was a bust and they spent nil dollars on him. They went got Steve when they realized he was not the answer. If Steve stays healthy none of these conversations are happening. He got hurt and the wheels came off.
My issue is once Steve went down not trying to modify the O to make it at least functional.

It is ridiculous not to have a serviceble quarterback to back up Angeli. Eight blowouts in a row! How did the coaches not see what was coming once the starter was injured? Shameful. I hate to pile on criticisms but ridiculous is the only word that comes to mind. What highlights? The time the pass wasn't intercepted? The time the running back bobbed and weaved his way back to the line of scrimmage? The punt that wasn't blocked? The touchdown saving tackle on the opening kickoff? So many highlights.
