AP / Coaches Polls for Oct 20

Personally, I think the flying thing isn't a big deal. These teams are all on charters. They take off and at worst 4 hours later they land. D 2 and 3 schools have been taking bus rides for 50 plus years that are longer. I mean does it really make a difference if you fly 2 hours or 4?
time no. Time zones yes.

Even our team said many did not sleep much, got home at 8am and lost most of the next day in recovery. Do that 4-5-6 times in 2 months and it adds up.

Sure local schools bus around. mostly for noon games and home in the evenings.

Nitpicking poll "logic" is a waste of time. So much of poll placement has to do with pre-season expectations, perceived brand and conference strength, the capriciousness of highlight viewing, etc.

Just keep winning and it'll take care of itself. People love a "turnaround in Syracuse" narrative. We just haven't given anyone a reason to use it past mid-October in 6 years.
And if we somehow get to that Miami game with 1 loss, all those SU fans I ran into in all the National Bowling Tournaments, will tune in for that TV game.

We don't have explosive plays, but we also don't make any. When was the last SU player other Shrader to make 2-3 people miss and make a 50yd play out of a 5?

We take slants for nice 30yd gains but not for TDs
We dont make a couple miss on a WR screen
Or RBs dont get in the hole and end up 60 yds down field

We make the occasional blown coverage/DB fall down play and the WRs have made a few nice catches

We just don't have those players.

Though when Tremble and Hornby got a bit a time to touch the ball they seemed to be looking for that electric play.
So what if they aren’t hitting 50 yd plays, 5th in the country is pass plays over 30 per game. Those are explosive plays, period. They aren’t taking low percentage deep shots for a reason, control the ball.

They are scoring 10pts a game more than last year, most since 2018, more than 2012

Yep, pretty much moving the ball at will for short yardage gains. It's as good as the old running the ball theory that Millhouse loves so much. Demoralizes and wears down the opposing D, keeps ours fresh.

Now our D just needs to make the most of that gift they are being given and not mentally fall apart in the 4th quarter. The UNLV OT was a good example of what a rested defense can do.

People being ESPN for sure. That's where having a cadre of employees there would help push the narrative higher. That Miami game is the canary in the coalmine for our collective "Syracuse is back" story lines.

Be amazing to get to the game with major playoff implications on the line.
