Assuming Rutgers wins on Saturday

GT has 7 wins but can only count 6 of them as it matters for Bowl eligibility. They beat 2 D-1AA schools and in the minds of bowl eligibility they are 6-5. The ACC would handle this matter within the conference and honestly neither GT or BC would travel better to the Advocare Bowl than SU. So the ACC would be helping both sides as the Pinstripe Bowl would have SU fatigue and a BC/GT-ND Pinstripe Bowl would have some interest on all 3 sides.
No way that can happen. Even if Rutgers loses on Saturday, the Pinstripe will get the 4th AAC team (Houston) to play a team which will fill the spot opened by the Big 12. That Big 12 spot will be ND, unless ND can get to Independence and then it will be SU or Pitt, likely Pitt. SU to Detroit.

Did you not catch what I said before. The AAC has a future relationship with BBVA Bowl and after this year has none with the Pinstripe Bowl. If the Pinstripe Bowl, AAC, and BBVA bowl all had an understanding that Houston would be better off in the BBVA Bowl then it could do as I stated. The lower bowl games all about maneuvering as best as they can if Houston would be better off in the BBVA it would open the AAC spot in NYC and don't think the Yankees would rather have BC, Ga. Tech over Houston. Rutgers would be perfect for the Yankees, but Houston wouldn't be.

I would like ND to be in the Pinstripe bowl. by aso iatio that would give the ACC teams with three of four victories in the Pinstripe Bowl going into the new deal with the ACC v. B1G. It just sounds good.

Your scenario has to assume Rutgers loses because if Rutgers wins, they go to the Pinstripe and Houston goes to the BBVA bowl anyway. If Rutgers loses, (assuming an SMU loss as well), then bowl manuvering is irrelevant as far as SU making a bowl is concerned. A Rutgers loss IMO guarantees SU in a bowl.

You really don't think GT travels better to Shreveport than SU? It's only an 8 hour drive.

Stupid question - didn't we come in 3rd in whatever division we are in? Why are we so down the food chain on this one?

We finished 4-4. There are 6 teams at 5-3 or better, 2 other teams tied with us at 4-4, and 2 teams only one game off at 3-5. Under ACC rules, 3-5 teams can be selected before 4-4 teams.

Not to mention that 8 other teams have a better overall record.

Basically if we don't make a bowl, it proves Lou C right that you schedule out of conference 3 wins, and 1 toss up game. Had we went 3-1, rather then 2-2 we wouldn't be on the fence for a bowl.

I think most of us would take any bowl at this point but after the pre-Christmas bowls, the worst is the Little Caesars, played the day after Christmas at 6 p.m. Can't see a lot of SU fans traveling to Detroit the day after Christmas.
Not only that, Detroit is just scary right now. Not enough money for basic police and fire protection.
I'll pass thanks

No matter what happens, we need to schedule OOC that way. Next year we have two slam dunks, one should win but maybe toss up and one tougher one. Not quite what we need, especially in a division with FSU, Clemson and Louisville

One more way that is good for us:

Fresno allready took themselves out for a BCS Bowl. If Bowling Green can upset NIU that would be huge. By my calculations only UCF would grab a BCS bid. Louisville could possibly grab one but I'm not sure they would rise enough.

If NIU is out another P5 team makes the BCS and it frees up one more secondary bowl.

So it is inate to Root against Rutgirls and should go without saying...but please add NIU to your list of hate this Friday.

if niu loses though that closes the little caesars bowl option

But it should open up another bowl somewhere for a P5 team...which helps.

yea most likely if niu loses either the pac 12 or big 12 will get a 2nd team in the BCS. which would help pac 12 get another bowl for its 2 extra teams currently. If the big 12 got a 2nd team in it would open up the texas bowl(b12 #6) vs likely Minnesota in houston

That game in Houston would be a nice bowl for Cuse...better opponent than UNT.

I love this thread because I think it's the first time the words "assuming Rutgers wins" have ever been written in sequence.

How many weeks should I impose a self ban for uttering that phrase?

None. You had to actually think about Rutgers football for a fraction of a second. You've suffered enough.

ED-209 will keep you safe.

Can we find some new acronym for the AAC? Too close to ACC. How about the ACK? Or the YAK? The BLECH?

You don't think that was planned? Showed more thought in that one move than the Providence mafia showed in 30 years.
