I used to feel the way many others here do about “don’t commit if you intend to de-commit”, but I’ve come to a point where I am more accepting because:Sadly with the portal now kids are being pressed with the "you don't want to lose your place" song and dance.
Which I feel lets to premature commiting and we all know that's not a good thing![]()
1) it’s the process now
2) new money introduced can cause things to shift fast
3) and maybe most important for me/us is coaches push certain players to commit as early as possible. It allows them to shift some focus to other players, it generates momentum (breaking the seal), and if the kid is even decent or he represents part of a quantity push (8 commits vs 2) the class rank goes up. That enables coaches to sell the class rankings to new and maybe better prospects.
