Class of 2027 ATH Tristin Hughes (OH) Decommitted

Sadly with the portal now kids are being pressed with the "you don't want to lose your place" song and dance.
Which I feel lets to premature commiting and we all know that's not a good thing ;)
I used to feel the way many others here do about “don’t commit if you intend to de-commit”, but I’ve come to a point where I am more accepting because:
1) it’s the process now
2) new money introduced can cause things to shift fast
3) and maybe most important for me/us is coaches push certain players to commit as early as possible. It allows them to shift some focus to other players, it generates momentum (breaking the seal), and if the kid is even decent or he represents part of a quantity push (8 commits vs 2) the class rank goes up. That enables coaches to sell the class rankings to new and maybe better prospects.

It's a little thing, but one that bothers me and is a small indicator of college athletics culture now. Know the name of the school that you commit to or that you thank for offering you. I'm not so naive to believe that the actual school and its programs is a driving factor in today's process. But, since these kids are now professionals, act like it. Proofread your stuff (or make sure your agent does), and get the damn name straight.

Can you imagine applying to a job and you address the company by the wrong name?

This is sound thinking.
