Autry Appreciation Thread

It's such a public position and it's impossible to hide, and to his credit, he never shied away from the questions, or lost his cool towards reporters or the players. You can tell how much the lack of success wore on him and how much he wanted the team to succeed.

Wishing him the best as he's clearly a top of the line human being.

Can we just stick to the appreciation aspect in this thread? We have plenty of others for additional criticism and commentary.

I read his post a compliment - but I think old school is a compliment :)

Red's an exceptionally good guy. Looking forward to his next steps.

If he wants to continue to coach (which I hope he does), I hope he finds a nice situation at maybe a D2 or low-major D1 level where the pressure is low and he doesn't have to follow an icon. I will always support him.

Nice thread. Hate the idea that many will remember Red for his failed time as a head coach. I'll never forget his performance against Missouri in the NCAA's (albeit a loss) something like 30 points in the second half. Almost carried the team to a win alone. Dude was a warrior and a great Orangeman

The results weren’t what anyone wanted, but I’m pretty sure no one was more disappointed with the results than Coach Autry himself. He has tons of passion for Cuse, which he showed as a player and coach.

All around great guy. Appreciated his composure, especially towards the end of the season where a more thin-skinned person might’ve snapped on the court or with the media.

Getting fired sucks regardless of salary. If you care about doing a great job as much as he did, it’ll take a mental and emotional toll. Wishing him the best as he deals with this and moves forward. Thank you, Coach Autry!

One thing was always clear: he wanted to win badly. Not going to fault someone when the issue is ability and not effort. I do wish it worked out. I'm sure he's disappointed but hopefully he feels some sort of relief. He had a lot of stress the last three years.
