...that MSG/Time Warner standoff is over and you can see the Knciks game tonight, (but Carmelo is "doubtful"). Supposedly the Governor was in on the negotiations but Axeman thinks the main factor was probably Jeremy lin.

Time Warner Blows!

DIRECTV all the way! I am glad Time Warner lost a bunch of customers over this throughout NY State! I love it!

We finally get to see a full game so Lin has 9 turnovers and they lose at home to ateam that had been 6-23. :(

In the Knicks first 23 games, Jeremy Lin played 55 mintues, scored 32 points, grasbbed 10 rebounds, (yes, 10), dished out 17 assists, blocked one shot and made three steals. He was 8 for 20 from the field and 16 for 19 from the free throw line. He turned the ball voer 8 times and committed 12 fouls. Here is his "Net Points", (or is it "Lin points"?) line, per 48 minutes:

27.9p 8.7r 14.8a 0.9b 2.6s 54.9+ 10.5mfg 2.6mft 7.0to 10.5pf 30.6- = 24.3NP 11.2OE 13.1FG

In their last right games, Lin has played 304 minutes, scored 197 points pulled down 30 rebounds, dished out 69 assists, blocked one shot and made 15 steals. He's 71 for 141 from the field and 48 for 66 from the foul line. He's made 46 turnovers and commited 16 fouls. His line:

31.1p 4.7r 10.9a 0.2b 2.4s 49.3+ 11.1mfg 2.8mft 7.3to 2.5pf 23.7- = 25.6NP 11.7OE 13.9FG

He's largely the same player he was when he was sitting on the bench except he's playing full games now and isn't committing, (or at elast being called for) nearly as many fouls. If he was foul as much as he had been, he'd still be on the bench.

Cable TV might be in store for a shake-up. And COX CABLE is leading the way... ( I got this from an MMA website)

In what is a story to watch with the increases in carriage fees combined with the very slow stream of people leaving cable and satellite due likely to the economy, Cox Cable announced a few weeks ago that they are creating a low tier service for $35 per month that would include the networks, local affiliates and some major cable networks including WGN, TBS, CNN, Galavision and USA.

But what they aren't carrying will include ESPN, Spike, Syfy, FX and MTV. They would all be available for a $60 monthly package. Obviously hardcore fans of wrestling and MMA would likely buy the more expensive package. But if this becomes a new direction other systems take in order to keep customers and offer an inexpensive alternative, what it will do is potentially limit creating new fans through television, particularly lower income level fans who may choose the most economical package.
The two things most interesting are what percentage of subscribers move to the cheaper tier and if other companies follow suit. And different companies will offer different stations in the packages. The key is that ESPN is charging $4.69 per subscriber per month, which means about $466 million per month. Cable companies are feeling ESPN is holding them hostage by constantly raising the rates, given that even though ESPN is not No. 1 on cable, because of all the sports it carries, no cable company can risk not carrying them. Putting it in a more expensive tier passes the costs to the consumers for that price plus enables companies to offer more economic versions of cable.
