TBH I don't blame him, I don't want to do a single thing in the airport besides get in and out of there.
True, but you can do that as well as I because we aren’t important. He was and one of the faces of SU. That was why he got paid millions. Shaking hands shouldn’t have been a big deal. We see this now with Fran.

Man could deliver a helluva post win locker room speech.
Something about the fried noodles he was about to treat himself too, produced the most epic locker room speeches after wins.

Can’t bash the guy. He spoke ad infinitum at my friends’ Italian American club meeting. He was under no obligation to attend on a cold Wednesday night near Teall Ave and Court Street, but he did it gracefully. I wish he could’ve been more successful. Fran is our best shot at relevance once again.

I think the proof of who he was as a coach was his record in league and against peer schools within the league.

20-45 in ACC play (and 14-43 without the Dungey year).

2-6 against Pitt (including the weird run-only game in NYC).
4-4 against B.C.
3-5 against Wake Forest

If you don't win 60% of your games against those three programs at SU, at minimum, you have very little chance to sustain success, IMO. He won 37.5% of them.

Interestingly enough, Fran Brown is 0-2 -- so we will see.

I would also consider GT and NC state peer schools. Dino had a rough go vs NC state and other than a breakout game by Sean Tucker and Sims throwing about a dozen picks in 2020 didn’t look good against GT either. Fran is 2-0.

This year the results of the peer games will be a great indicator of what our ceiling is with Fran. I think Wake Forest goes backwards with Clawson stepping down and we end up beating them far more often than not. That mesh was a nightmare to prepare for and Clawson got the most out of his talent.

I simply think the game passed him bye, he has a scheme, Orange in the new fast, teams adjusted to that and then we got away from it. I’ve heard that recruiting wasnt that we got beat out for a high level kid we simply gave up and didn’t fight for them. Kids were simply left wondering what happened to Syracuse

My daughter ran into him and his daughter by accident, she said they were extremely gracious and friendly , especially when she explained that her father was a huge SU football fan. In major college football today that’s not a huge buyout, Dino pumped life into a sagging program when he got here, he was unable to maintain it . I have no hard feelings.
It was better than when he took over. Roster was much better, just not deep enough. They should have averaged 8 wins last three years, injuries cost them two a year.

Tried to talk with him once At Onondaga G&CC. Wouldn’t give me the time of day
I don't want to make too much of this one instance, but there have been other stories like this where it just didn't seem like Dino made as much of an effort to embrace the community and alums as Fran has, and that's going to hurt you in the NIL era. I remember when we lost Duce and Jahad and Dino's quotes afterward seemed to indicate his NIL strategy seemed to be to just throw up his hands and say "What are you going to do?"

That actually makes me sick to think he got that much for a buyout. Without Dungey who wasn’t even his recruit the guy would have lost an insane amount of games. He was the laziest person in the community who did absolutely nothing and literally didn’t show up to anything unless he was contractually obligated. Saw him a couple times at the airport and tried to talk with him and he was so damn awkward and rude. What a scrub, thank god he’s gone

"Close your eyes." :)
Ironically, the team that he envisioned is exactly what that USF team was that crushed his SU team in its last game.
