Babers fired according to Thamel

Comedy Central Lol GIF by The Jim Jefferies Show

Let me clarify, I understand the decision, but I think with failure of Dino and the current state of , NIL and realignment this is a bad day. The outlook is grim.
So, since you disliked my post, you would have given Dino an extention?

Tough. Never want to see a man lose his job. Dino by all accounts is a great dude and represented the program well. So I wish him nothing but the best. Just wasn’t getting the job done in year 8. With a cupcake schedule next year, this year was the right year to make a move if we were going too. Plus Dino had lost the fan base, alumni, past players and seems he was starting to lose the locker room a bit. Not a good recipe. Wish him and his family nothing but the best.

Although I think we did need to move on, Dino did some great things for Cuse football we can’t all forget.
-6-0 for the first time in FOREVER
-Possible back to back bowl games this year in FORVER
-First 10 win season in FOREVER
-Had us ranked multiple years and all the way up to 12
-Put multiple players in the pros (some high end pros too
-Had multiple sellouts which hadn’t happened in awhile
-Can’t forget that Clemson win at home in 2017, that’s a memorable Dome win and will be FOREVER

The timing is right to move on. Dino has always represented the Program well. He understood the allure of the Syracuse program and the tradition of Syracuse. Was always a stand up guy here at Cuse. Although I think the move to fire him is the right call. I’ll tip my cap to coaches Babers, he’ll always be welcomed back to Cuse in my book, 8 years is a lifetime in college football speak so he’ll always be apart of the Syracuse football family. May not have been the ending we’d like. But hope nothing but success for Dino and his family.
Gotta be honest. I have no idea if he's a good man. I have never seen a big time coach less visible in the community.
In my opinion he got paid very well to do a job for a long time, and failed, and that's really all I know about him.

Don't think the problem was Dino at all.
Is it 100% on Dino? No. There are embedded, structural challenges to winning at SU that any coach will face. But the idea that it isn't his fault "at all?" Steve, that's nuts.

Dino simply doesn't know how to teach disciplined football, which is the basic essence of being a good coach before anything else. We have a large enough sample size of information. It's the same exact story wherever he is.

National ranking in penalties per game. Higher number = worse.

End of an era.

My wishlist for next Head Coach is a younger guy, who embraces NIL and portal. I vote for Tony White or Sean Lewis
Well, embracing NIL and the portal means you have the funds. I don't know one way or the other whether we do. But I would guess, we don't.

I want someone who has HC experience. Knows how to run a program, recruit, good at in game decisions. Etc
So guys like Dan Lanning who were never HCs aren’t worth the risk? Just asking your opinion because there are some serious studs out there that are OCs like Grubb that I would sign up for in a second

Interesting, JW probably asked him if he wanted to coach vs. WF and Babers probably said no.

I really wish him the best. But He just didn’t seem engaged with the community at all. He came around a few times at the golf course I work at. Kind of an odd duck. I’ll get his clubs ready for pick up

Wow

I would have absolutely let the seasons n play out. They have had another bizarre set of circumstances but they could beat Wake then win the bowl game. Then look at the situation. I looked at the list in Tomcats post to possible candidates, I think these guys will be looking for better so I doubt Wildhack pulled the trigger because he had someone in line. ( Of course I don’t know) Sad day ….. for me as I look at all the celebrating , it just grates on me .

There are a LOT of good candidates out there and for some reason I actually think they will make the right choice this time. I dunno why, but there just seems to be far more options this time around. If they were paying Babers over 4m like they were, they can get a stud for that number. Let the madness begin

Stud? They were 50th in HC salary at 4m. 5m would get them into Top 40 salaries.

It was time for Babers to go but the thought process Syracuse can/will hire a stud at 4m is flawed thinking.
