Babers fired according to Thamel

I like White, but think he is a tough sell now as a DC of a 5-6 team.

But the DC of the 15th best defense in the country. Who went from giving up 414 yards per game last year to 307 yards per game this year, in his first year as coordinator.

The failures of their 115th ranked offense aren't his fault. But his ideas for what a college offense should look like will make him or break him an the interview.

We can only hire a DC if he's committed to doing the things on offense that he struggled to stop as a DC.

maybe someone smarter than myself can explain this. what is the monetary difference to the university next year between babers potential buyout clause and his contracted salary ? and if he takes another job does that amount offset the buyout money. basically what would we pay him to leave versus what would we have paid him to stay ? thanks.

Welcome to the New World of college athletics.

The first question a prospective HC is going to ask is ‘what is the budget for NIL for player acquisition and retention’?

If the answer is not to the candidate’s liking, they will move on.

Bottom line, if you care about the program and want to get a good candidate, you should write a check to an SU NIL collective today and help position the university better to get a good coach.

Universities cannot pay for NIL. This is something only boosters can provide. We are competing directly with lots of other schools in this area and this is actually a time when all of us can make a significant impact..

This is one of the most pivotal moments in SU football history.

Put up or shut up time.
If I had “it” I’d put it up. Truly time for me to have my reoccurring dream where I won the lotto and at the press conference proclaim, “This is a very good day for the syracuse football program “.

You know a completely different Dino Babers then the one I know. My daughter had a chance meeting with the Babers awhile back. Nothing but class . Humble and affable.
Cool let’s rehire him and give him a raise for being a nice guy.

Thamel usually knows what he's talking about, so disappointed not to see Chadwell or Mullen on there-They'd be slam dunks. I like White, but think he is a tough sell now as a DC of a 5-6 team. I also hope Wildhack doesn't force an SU alum hire like Austin, who has been out of the college game for a while.
We can’t afford Mullen or Chadwell.

Nebraska is 5-6 but first year with new coaching staff. I think White will be at the top of JW’s list

Uh Huh Sure GIF

Dino Babers seems like a really good guy but not many FBS programs would continue to ride with that level of performance

Wildhack is no dummy. I would bet he has already hired the replacement.

this is the third time I think I’ve seen this mentioned in the thread. I don’t personally believe it or see how it’s possible since the guys I would hope we’re looking at a hiring are already in coaching jobs at teams that are winning. If we’ve already hired a replacement then I’d have to believe it’s somebody who’s not coaching like Dan Mullen, LOL .??

Hoping for Dan Mullen if we want experienced. Hoping for Liam Coen if we want to take a high risk, high reward type of hire. Probably will end up with White, which I don’t love right now but I will convince myself it is a great move if/when it occurs.
