BC post game

Isn’t that expected for an all players? Wouldn’t a player realize that it’s the only way to improve? That’s why coaches hire a staff. Etan seems like an intelligent person so I figure he must have known that he would need to up his work ethic in college and work with the assistant coaches to improve his game especially if he NBA aspirations?
Yes, I would think that is the expectation of all players. I was simply making the point that if a player was living up to that expectation they deserve the majority of the credit for ‘turning’ themself into a lottery pick instead of giving the coach all the credit for that accomplishment.

Seems like you’re quibbling over semantics.

Brown with only 2 FG attempts but anyone actually watching the game can see that kid just makes plays. So many tipped balls. Can’t remember a recent front court player that makes as many. And several good hockey assist passes tonight. Including to Taylor.

By the way… big fan of Taylor as well. Really really good looking shot.

Feel like I’m beating a drum again but these two I really am looking forward to.

Jesse breakout game of the year and JB showing he still has some decent coaching chops on occasion... JT showing serious glimpses of quality and yes, more Torrance please... Not only does he make plays (especially for Jesse) but Mintz watching him from the bench for a breather is a good thing, as he seemed to come back in and do the same down the stretch (as opposed to trying to do hero ball on his own down the stretch on fumes and fail.)

It was an entertaining game between 2 bottom half league 500-ish teams and will likely be a seeding plus for us over them in the NIT.

A bit depressing that - but that's who we are now. At least we're not Louisville... Glass houses and all that...

Boston College is a well balanced team with very good players and they are playing with confidence and poise. The Orange just took that game away from them on their home floor. Syracuse needs to stay focused and hungry and not let more games slip through their fingers. They have the talent, they can do it if they try.

The ball goes to the guy who is scoring and can take advantage of his situation shoot or pass. Today it was Jessie. That said, the SU O just has to be aware and not get too crazy with the 1 on 1 junk and make some good crisp passes like for example Brown to Joe to Taylor for the open 3.

I can’t believe such an innocuous comment the intent of which is to praise Jesse is being twisted into some war manifesto
I can. More than one of the recent losses were due to JB forcing the offense through an ineffective Jesse being doubled...and as a result, the offense grinding to a halt.

That wasnt happening on accident and its not really even Jesse's fault. But if you can't see that running everything through Jesse ONLY works vs teams with weaker inside defense, you probably havent been watching very closely.

Maybe Jesse improves the rest of the way...and makes teams pay for this strategy,...but so far its a winner for opponents.

Could you misread the situation anymore than you did ? People are pissed because Etan is supposedly “making Boeheim look bad” by criticizing the strategy of NOT going through Jesse. And you’re saying that they are in fact “going through” him too much, which is, of course, dictated by the coach. This has nothing to do with the merits of Etans tweet.

oh but it does!

Etan is WRONG...the team has been going through Jesse too much. at times. (for instance, the UVA collapse) Thats why I think MOST people dont like the tweet.

Some people may also be upset that he is making boeheim look bad...which is a bad look, generally...but could be for different reasons, as well. (personally I was happy when he stood for kadary and happy that former players could be a possible voice of reason in certain cases - when justified)

Etan is smart and usually on-point, but not here. imo

(although, early in the season, when jesse had an advantage, i do think the team didnt go to him enough in certain games, as well)

He’s not wrong though, Jesse just hasn’t optimized it yet. I’m sure Etan would say the same thing.

well yeah not yet...but theyre running out of "prep time" for him to figure it out

A few thoughts after attending the game
-I thought it was the best game of Jesse‘s career. The one that really raised my eyebrows was the left-handed hook in the first half. He also seems to have improved in the last few games with respect to passing out of the double team.
-I heard from a pretty good source that there is a good chance that Jesse could be back next year. It was the first time I had heard that anywhere and obviously that would be a great development for our program. Foreign players are not allowed to get NIL but I guess there are ways around that as Kentucky has shown and I think there is work being done in that regard for Jesse.
-I don’t think it can be underestimated how well Judah played in the last five minutes. Totally under control. Confident with the ball. The wraparound dish to Jesse was outstanding and the baseline 15 footer was Kyrie like. And his left handed deuce in the first half was sensational.
-good to see Taylor get quality run. Obviously his shooting was fantastic but what he brings to the table that I think is overlooked is how confident he is with the ball. He never seems rushed or panicked and the ball doesn’t stick with him. I think he will be much more effective on the defensive end when he plays the two next year.
-after all the abuse JB has given him it still boggles my mind how disinclined Bell is to go for rebounds. I totally thought it was unfair when he got yanked 14 seconds into the Virginia game for a turnover that can happen to anyone but anytime he got pulled yesterday he deserved it. He was nonexistent on the defensive end of the court.
-Reading this thread I know a number of people will disagree with me on this but I thought this was one of the few games where Brown was not as active as he normally is.
-no surprise but I thought Benny was totally disengaged on the bench. The team is very supportive of one another and obviously when you are at the game you can see that more frequently then on TV. Benny’s nonchalance to me stood out.
-Kaleb Joseph was in attendance at the game and sitting behind the bench. I think it was noted on the board somewhere but he has done some amazing work promoting mental health. I spoke to him at halftime and he really is engaged with that cause and is speaking to students all over the east. He is living in the Boston area now and was rooting hard for the orange.

Would still rather the offense center around Judah initiating.

It doesn’t work often because Joe hangs in the corner and Jesse clogs up the lane when he’s well defended.

We just dont have enough movement without the ball on offense. Our scoring lanes are congested which makes it easier to waste/blow possessions.

Joe doesn’t move enough and find the open space. Taylor is better at that, but Taylor’s guy isn’t as worried about him like joes is.

I agree they go through him too much, especially when he isn’t being productive. Forcing the ball to him in the post has been an issue all year. The pick and roll is great but it seems only Joe can run it for some reason. Jesse’s face up game today was an anomaly, not the norm.

Yep, Taylor’s gotta come out of his shell. He’s a lot like Buddy but seems capable of being much much more physical off the dribble. High hopes for him but he’s a bit timid right now

And I know where you’re going with this and wholeheartedly disagree.
Your an idiot. Etan says basketball stuff that is based in his desire to slam Boeheim. Against UVA, when the offense was forced through Jessie, it died. Jessie had no answer for strength and double teams. He had at least 4 turnovers, but it seemed more than that. There was no such post after that.
Every basketball post he makes are slightly veiled anti-Boeheim slams, despite not being in practice or around the program.

Etan's not at practice but he know how Boeheim do.
