One game doesn't define what should or shouldn't be done going foward ,BUT, this team ran more smooth with Copeland at the point. Starling is very limited and Mintz's me first mentality is just not for me. Pick your poison who's the shooting guard but I'm giving the PG reigns to Copeland until he screws it up. He's a little too loose with the ball and needs to tighten it up but I'm willing to go with him because he looks to get everyone involved which is better for the team.
When Mintz is the PG everyone just stands around watching him shoot. He has to play so I'm putting him off ball and Starling can come of the bench.
Justin Taylor should just stop shooting. He's shooting about 30% from the field over the last 10 games. Hit the glass and play defense. People criticize him for this part of his game but he's the only other player outside of MBrown who rebounds consistently.
Bell took defensive heat last night but in my eyes he was extremely active and works hard. I was specifically watching him as the guy he was guarding was running around all over the place off screens and Bell was mostly with him. Occasionally he got picked off but everybody does. The BC kid was making him work. IMO, the pick and roll defense needs some work, that's where we get caught but it's correctable if we have the coaching. Are we going over the pick or under the pick and what to do with the player coming off the roll.
Benny is an enigma. You need minutes from him but he's just not that good. Can't shoot, can't dribble. He should spell Taylor with instructions to hit the glass and play D.
The starting combo was good last night, played the first 7 minutes of the game and built a huge lead. I think you give Copeland the nod at PG and night to night you find the best combination for what's working.
