Being a Bills fan is the most frustrating task ever

I'm surprised Hackett is getting as much flack as he is considering the Bills have faced the #2, #3, and #7 defenses followed by the defending world champions that still have Ngata, Suggs and now Dumervil and he's working with a very raw rookie quarterback and the "star" of the offense forgot how to recognize holes and for some reason doesn't have nearly the same burst.

Despite all of that, the Bills offense is currently ranked #14 in the NFL in total offense. The Bills haven't ranked better than #14 in offense since 2002.

Maybe your expectations were too high? Not sure.

The Bills in the first half of games have been able to move the ball but the second half of just about every game has been pretty bad moving the ball and putting up points. Patriot game we had I think 3 in the second half and 3 yesterday versus Baltimore. Hackett has to make some adjustments to the adjustments that our opponents are doing on D. Running Spiller solo up the middle a half dozen times a game isnt working and it allready has him with multiple injuries. He wont make it through the season if we dont start mixing it up a little bit more and passing the rock a little bit more.

We need more screen passes, pitches, delayed handoffs to Spiller. Get him in space.

Agree on Branch just unfortunate that he can't really rush the passer at all. I know he was hurt but I was hoping we would give Anderson at least a shot this year to see what he had left, he and Mario healthy on the same line would have been nice. Dareus and Kyle have always been great rushign the passer but there play against the Run has always been mediocore to bad, yesterday was the best I have ever seen it.
I think Kyle and Dareus having their best run stuffing games was due to Branch. Branch continually had two guys on him, the dude is just massive and strong. That frees up Kyle and Dareus to get pentration into the backfield which they are already good at.

I'm not, it's identical to what we heard here (run run pass hurrrr).

Then Nassib and Lemon developed ESP, the o-line turned into this mutant amoeba wall, etc.

How about the fake reverse on the goalline where Lee Smith (c'mon, Lee Smith?) trips. Hackett set that up perfectly. That was spicy.
When we need a play for a score Hackett seems like a wizard, its just the rest of the game that hes doing the ol' run, run, pass deal. Players also have to execute. Hackett can't throw the ball to open receivers for EJ. I thought running out of the I formation with a lead blocker was a good adjustment from the shotgun handoffs 24/7.

Oh yea and... STOP GETTING PENALTIES ON FIRST DOWN!!

I think they threw the flag because he took his helmet off but I agree with what your saying. The Bills D has been pretty good this year but man that offense looks putrid at times, Hackett's play calling is maddening.

Like when the tight end tripped over the 6 yard line on a perfect play call and fake for the end zone or when EJ under threw his receiver who had his man beat down the field? Or when the Bills racked up over 200 yards on the ground? It wasn't necessarily offensive playcalling today.

EJ also overthrew Stevie on an easy TD down the sideline. He's got to get better on his accuracy and ball handling.

Perhaps calling that route to the second string TE who has the mobility of a telephone pole wasnt the best of ideas? EJ under threw his receiver because he got crushed a second after he released the ball. Again I am not arguing the Bills moved the ball especially in the first half but once again the offense was non existent in the second half 3 total pts. And both Fred and CJ are hurt and questionable for Thursday, the Bills dont have the backs for a power/grind it out run attack for 16 weeks, they will both be on IR by week 8 at this rate.

Wasn't he getting crushed by a defender on that play? Was on his back foot and it sailed on him after the hit.

True, shouldnt have said "easy" TD Throw, he was about to get drilled but still a makeable throw to a wide open player. He also was about to get hit on the int where Woods had his man beat.

He's got to have better poise in the pocket when he's about to take a hit.

Lofty expectations is not a problem for any Bills fan I know.

The offense has not been good. That yardage # is skewed by running the league's fastest pace. In YPP they're 25th vs 11th last year.

Fans of every team love to nitpick playcalling, which I think is nonsense most of the time. I do think they've made some tactical blunders the last couple weeks: Hurry-up after a sack w/ 2mins left in the half vs the Jets, really? A draw on 3rd&10 yesterday with 2:20 left (there is zero chance the Ravens are going to run out of time so try to get the 1st down FFS)?

The schedule point is valid. It's loaded with defensive teams (which doesn't change with the two Ohio teams coming up).

I love what they have done on defense. If we can stay healthy through Thursday night. We will more than likely have Byrd, Gilmore and McKelvin back for Bengals game. That would be HUGE. I think the defense has some serious potential.

On offense, they are frustrating. Hackett got WAY too conservative in the 2nd half. Almost cost them the game. Ej is undoubtedly a rookie. Makes a great throw followed by a terrible one. Think they will get better and better as time goes.

What a draft class, EJ, Woods and Kiko all look like players. I love it.

Pettine is light years ahed of Dave "I never ever freaking blitz" Wanstdadt. The Bills D looks the best I have seen in a long time and I can only imagine how good it could be if we could get even a mediocore pass rusher on the other side of Mario.
Say what you want about Rex Ryan as a person/head coach, but there aren't many coaches I'd rather have a D Coordinator learn blitz packages from.

I can't describe how good and then bad this team can look

Ok I only read your post in this thread. I guess you are talking about this year. I took the title as meaning all time. I am a Browns fan. Your Bills have been to 4 Super bowls (nevermind the result! ;) ) My team has never been to a Superbowl...dang Broncos. The team that left Cleveland for Baltimore won a Superbowl. As for the 'new' Browns...my beer drinking on Sundays has increased a little since then. But since you are talking about this year...carry on. ;)
