Belichick to UNC

Why would he do this? He's like a lot of coaches. He loves it so much, he'd do it for free at a D3 school if it came to that. Bill Walsh took the Stanford job after the NFL. Calhoun and Massimino coached at obscure D3 schools after they were done with D1. Rocky Long is doing that now. I think I once heard it attributed to Belichek that he would like to coach lacrosse at his college someday, Wesleyan.

Him being interested in UNC at this point makes sense to me. He wants to try to out game plan whoever his opponent is. He lives for this stuff. He has enough money. It's not that.

“I’m told Bill Belichick’s negotiations with North Carolina include a guarantee that Stephen Belichick will be named the school’s head coach in waiting. UNC is open to that guarantee.”

I asked ChatGPT what Bill Belichick’s record was with Tom Brady versus without:

Bill Belichick's coaching record with and without Tom Brady varies significantly, reflecting the immense impact Brady had on Belichick's success.

With Tom Brady:

Belichick and Brady were together for 20 seasons (2000-2019) with the New England Patriots. During this time, Belichick posted an overall record of:

  • 219-64 (.773 win percentage) in regular season
  • 30-11 in playoff games
  • 6 Super Bowl titles (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, LI, LIII)
This collaboration resulted in one of the most successful dynasties in NFL history, with six championships and numerous records broken by Brady as the starting quarterback.

Without Tom Brady:

After Brady left the Patriots in 2020, Belichick had to adjust to a new quarterback, starting with Cam Newton, and later Mac Jones. Here's the record:

  • 17-22 (.436 win percentage) in regular season (as of the end of the 2023 season)
  • No playoff appearances
While the sample size is smaller, Belichick has struggled to find the same level of success without Brady. The Patriots missed the playoffs in 2020, made it in 2021 with Mac Jones but were eliminated in the first round, and have struggled to get back to contending for a championship.

Summary:

  • With Tom Brady: 219-64 (.773) regular season, 30-11 playoffs, 6 Super Bowl titles.
  • Without Tom Brady: 17-22 (.436) regular season, no playoff appearances.
These numbers highlight just how essential Tom Brady was to the Patriots' success during their two-decade partnership.

He will have to break out the formal hoodie
If he refuses a nice suit and wears the hoodie, his girlfriend is going to end up drunk and crying in the bathroom by the end of the night.

The one year Brady was injured the Patriots still went 11-5 and were one of the only teams in history to not make the playoffs with that record.

Belichick and Brady are both GOATs.
That season was nearly 20 years ago

Just what I would want if I were Bubba - a 72 year old who won't want to do the travel necessary in today's environment, who won't have a Tom Brady to win him games, who might be side-eyeing the cheerleaders during the game to see if he could do better, etc.
Hmmmm… sounds like a good chunk of our posters

I saw Bill interviewed by McAfee on ESPN today. Man, he's really auditioning for a top college job. I didn't get a feeling it had to be UNC, just somewhere that runs like an NFL program. tOSU if Day doesn't make it?

lets wait for a reputable source lol

Dov's 'source' hasn't even tweeted that info out himself. That Dov account is also a purchased account that just puts stuff out for engagement
Ya but it’s fun

Can't wait for the baby blue arm-cutoff hoodie with the neck ripped out...

Hopefully someone gives him new socks and sandwich for X-mas.

I really hope this is true because it will definitely make the ACC more fun, especially with SU playing UNC next year.
