Belichick to UNC

you should check out his interview on Pat McAfee. He's not talking about coaching a college team, he's talking about turning UNC into an NFL feeder program. Everything within the program, coaches, facilities, practice, medical, would all mimic professional programs. I think kids would flock to this for sure.

I haven't heard the interview yet so take this all with a grain of salt but I think there are already several college football programs that are set up to be NFL feeders - Alabama, Texas, Georgia, etc.
I don't know if he is really reinventing the wheel.

From the outside, he looks like a curmudgeonly 72 year old newbie to college football who wants to set up his son with a future job as HC.

lol totally lost my mind there lol

Funny part is that Tony is generally a sane guy. Herm is not
Hey if it wasn’t for Herm and Antonio Pierce turning the program into a dumpster fire, they would have not had to hire Dillingham and wouldn’t be in the playoffs now. Those dudes were geniuses!

He layed out his gameplan, he’s trying to turn UNC into a prep school for the NFL. The biggest argument I see is him connecting to college kids and I’m just not sure if he’ll have to. The staff he can build is absolutely elite and again he’s not trying to build a college program up, he’s saying if you want to play on Sunday’s come here. Essentially what Calipari did on the basketball side but Bill is actually one of the greatest coaches of all time so there won’t be a coaching letdown in big games.

He was pretty crappy his last few years at New England. How do you go from a seventy year old to another seventy year old?

Hes right on the money. college football is dead and its now semi pro ball.

He sure didn't have a all star coaching staff in his final years at Foxboro. I think this ends badly for all concerned

Agreed. College is a different game and not a great fit for the ceo style guys. Look at Brian Kelly now.

It’s good for the acc but I see this blowing up.

I am a born and raised Pats fan, honorary Mazzhole, etc etc and I can't believe that anybody in the world thinks that this is a good idea. The potential for disaster is boundless but I think it'd be even funnier if he absolutely kills it.

I think he is a great coach. No doubt he will run circles around the other coaches with Xs and Os. But CFB has a lot of non FB stuff that a HC needs to navigate. He will be awful at that.

Also it isn't like he was a great at the NFL draft. If he cannot tell that Mac Jones isn't the 15th best player in the draft, how can he pick a HS QB?

His players tended to be high FB IQ guys who were hard workers. He would chose that over pure talent. CFB is all about explosive players, otherwise Army and Navy would be in the playoffs every year.

I think his biggest struggle will be dealing with players who don't really know FB yet. His expectation of what a player should know will be way off to what these kids actually know. What he thinks is basic and a given will be entirely new to most kids. He will have to severally dumb down his FB communication to get through. I see that frustrating the heck out of him.
