JB has never subbed guys out because they picked up a 3rd foul in the 2nd half. It works more often than not, imo. He lets the player play and trusts them not to foul. fwiw, Jesse got screwed on his 4th; it was not a foul.
The conventional wisdom might be to pull the player on their 3rd foul so you can use them at the end of the game. That's great but, when you need that player on the floor to keep the game close, saving them until the end doesn't do you much good. If Jesse had been subbed out after his 3rd foul, we wouldn't have been worrying about him being in the game to score with us down 1. We'd be down 10 and hoping for a late game miracle.
Benny is such an enigma. I don’t know if I could name a Syracuse player with a wider gap between raw talent/athleticism and feel/instincts for the game.
He’s a 12 year old just learning the game in a lottery picks body. It’s wild.
