Big East BCS bid

We're light years ahead of you in basketball and have surpassed you in football as well

So true. SU hoops is nothing when compared to UConn, even though SU has won 3 out of the last 5 meetings. And, UConn's 2-4 record in football this season is clearly indicitive of how superior they are to SU on the gridiron. It is a downright tragedy that the ACC overlooked an athletic powerhouse such as UConn, and offered membership to lowly SU. Someone should probably call the Attorney General to look into this.

That's a good idea. And while they're waiting to file a lawsuit, someone can publicly badmouth SU, Pitt, and the entire ACC. Always a good tactic.

This Globe writer and his source are misguided. This article refers to an NCAA rule supporting auto-bids to NCAA championships, such as the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. As we all know, the BCS is separate from that and doesn't have to follow the NCAA's grace period. After 2013 the BCS committee can do whatever it wants (if it still exists).

It's especially frustrating considering the ACC and BE have been nearly even using the BCS criteria but nobody talks about them losing their bid.

That's probably because the ACC isn't losing any teams. You do realize that the Big East has now lost 5 of the 8 schools that were the reason the Big East got a bid in the first place. All 5 have gone to the ACC. And it can argued that other than WVU, the other 2 remaining BE football schools have been largely irrelevant over the history of the BCS. And just another fyi. SU was going to Orange, Sugar and Fiesta bowls before there was a BCS. If not for the BCS and the AQ, do you honestly think UConn would have gone to one last year?
