From what I've been told it wasnt a coincidence Peter King brought up Schiano's name. Is a serious NFL HC candidate already. Serious.

He tweets more about Schiano's reputation as a recruiter only but I'm too lazy to post on my iPad.

I know we joke about how irrelevant Rutgers is, but Schiano is the thin line between the irrelevance Rutgers enjoys now and becoming even less relevant.

Of all the years for this to happen, when our inn is full. It would have been a perfect opportunity to take some of their recruits aside, put an arm around their shoulders, let them know they had a home in upstate NY.

In hindsight, that stadium expansion may have been a bad idea...

Yeah... but that's because his one and only real skill is as a car salesman. I am trying to figure out exactly what about him translates positively to the NFL.

Schiano would get a major pay cut, I would imagine. But, I hear they would give him his own helicopter.

As much as we joke, Schiano leaving would be a major positive for our program. You can't keep bringing in as much talent as he does and be down for long.

Actually, them getting a better game day coach with said talent would be worse.

Dolphns, bucs and raiders are the only teams left without a hc I think.

I worry that he separates Rutgers from real progress.

I'd actually care about this if we were stuck in the Big East. But seeing that we're outta here, there is very little that happens at Rutgers that I care about.

I've read this 10 times, and I'm not sure what you mean. Do you think this is good or bad for Rutgers? Or us?

Quote by Peter King : Do you know what Rutgers was? Rutgers was the '76 (Tampa Bay) Buccaneers for years and for Schiano to get them competitive in college football is a tremendous accomplishment

Now we can poke at the way he's done it via scheduling/flipping Greene/Rice but really, I have to acknowledge that there is some truth in that statement.

I'd lay off on the tremendous though myself.

Him leaving is a potential problem for us - another coach might actually take the talent and accomplish something with it.

Gotcha. Thanks. Agreed, but I also think that with their conference-affiliation status, they are bound to sink.

Raiduhsssssss That's the ticket !

Serve the bastadh right

Agree with this. I want Schiano in Piscataway forever. They won't win big games with him there. If they made the right hire after him, they could be a legit team. Actually, i could care less now seeing that we are bouncing from this awful conference.

I agree except for the part of the conference being awful.

I don't think it's awful at all - with University of Houston, Boise State, San Diego State, UCF, SMU and Cincy, Louisville, UConn and yes Rutgers it's a pretty darn good conference with national exposure and big city TV markets.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we're in the ACC for reasons of stability, regional appeal and money.

But I can't call the Big East Football Conference awful

My guess is once the BCS bowl tie-ins go away, the big east is done. Why would Boise State and San Diego State make the move, knowing there is no tie in?
