Board Administrator Email To The Athletic Department

I think this is a great idea. If your seats are behind an endzone and the play is on the opposite end of the field you can't tell what's going on. And the whole thing about refs not wanting controversial calls replayed is BS.

The Big East did not allow any of its schools to replay controversial calls. If they did, they would get an earful from the conference and whatever other enforcements they could hand down...it wasn't the school's fault there. Hopefully it's changed this year with a move to the ACC.

I know some have stated that replays have been better this year but I have not noticed it during the ACC games. Seems to be like it has been in past years.

find me 1 arena/stadium in the entire country, at any level, that shows a replay that possibly would go against the home team, and i will show you an AV Dept about to be out of a job.

if its remotely close, if it garners a 2nd look...it shouldnt be shown.

cant believe you guys are discussing this.

Who's talking only about "replays that would go against the home team"? How about replays that would go for the home team? How about a replay of Broyld being mugged where there wasn't even a penalty called?

colleges dont show those.

never have, never will.

They could relocate those good folks inside the carrier dome. That would help boost attendance. Two problems solved.
and they would complain every time you stood up-

Regardless of who mandates it, it's BS. And I don't have a problem with the home team AV dept determining what gets replayed, it's just part of home field advantage.

in watching games there are clearly other schools showing alot more replays than what we see.. you see nfl games where coaches are watching the replays to decide whether to challenge or not. the booing last week was going to happen replay or not. when teams score someone screwed up we show those replays, why do we have to protect the refs from blown calls too? MLB shows the blown calls, do we expect a riot?

the B10 has ruled any replay and time any speed. what is the ACC rule?

do you guys honestly believe there is anyone capable in the su booth to push the replay button?

jimminny crickets they wear velcro shoes

This thread reminds me of something I did many many moons ago. It was for basketball and was titled "Bee's Six Point Plan". I sent it to 3-4 people at SU and got a couple of thank you's. It wasn't just a rant but was well thought out and presented (I thought). I'm having trouble remembering many of them but I do know over the next couple years most of them were implemented. Some of the old timers from back in the day on the AOL board(?) like Cherie, All4, Tom etc might remember.

I did the same and sent ideas to Mike V. The University implemented a few of my ideas, One was the idea for a fan zone which became the O zone , which of course was a bust. It was back to the drawing board.

A good friend of mine is an Oregon grad. Tells me that back in the 90s they would regularly have empty seats when capacity was 40K. Past decade they've expanded to 54K and sold out every game.

We should totally ask Oregon what they did with their replay boards, out-of-town scores and shuttles to get so many more people to go to their games. They've definitely struck upon some magical formula with that stuff.

Or we can ask Phil Knight if he would be interested in a graduate degree from Syracuse. Maybe then he'd fully fund our program too, so we can purchase the same athletes they do.

It is unprecedented. Oakwood is a large and historically important cemetery. It is well maintained and on the National Register of Historic Places.
The cemetery you speak of was a long-neglected one. SU still had to move the remains to the newer St. Mary's in Dewitt (and I think St. Agnes) in order to build there.
Whoa, did you even read my whole post I said Oakwood has historical significance and thus this was very very unlikely. Just a tidbit chill.

Nah, pretty sure if we just get the out-of-town scoreboard working better we'll sell out every weekend.

Is there a Dino BBQ stand at the Dome? If not, why? That would do killer business even if they were only selling pulled pork, wings and mac and cheese.

1) Replace the benches with Stadium Seating. The bleachers are too small and uncomfortable to sit in for 3.5 hours...especially if you pay the Orange Pack Donation.
2) Learn how to use the video boards properly.

Will the existing dimensions of the rows accommodate seating?

The Nats don't show blown calls.

No idea --- but I will bring a tape measure with me to the Pitt game if that helps! (or better year the Cornell game on Friday).

I only ask because even with the narrow bench seating, there is little leg room.

Same idea I've said over and over. Free tickets to youth sports leagues in town. I don't think anyone who is paying would be opposed to giving the free tickets to our young people and some chaperones. Many of the inner city program kids would never get to see a game otherwise. Once again, maybe you build lifetime fans this way. Maybe one of our city very good players goes to Syracuse because they remember getting free tickets when they were young.
Another option is to give free tickets to schools to use for students who have done something special, like random acts of kindness. They get 4 tickets for their family to use. That has been used by professional teams. We once got tickets to the Knicks that way many years ago.
Either of these are not huge, but you could do a few hundred each week this way.
Good for community building also.

Yes, but is it still a working cemetary? If it's not, there's something like a 75 year waiting period, and then the land can be redeveloped. A big part of it seems to be closed to the public. I don't mean to sound like a jerk.

make sure to move the graves

Not only is it active, Oakwood is on the National Register of Historic Places and doubles as maybe the nicest park in the county. So there won't be any development south of campus.
