Boeheim retiring in 3 years, reportedly

The whole thing seems like a smoke screen. People don't really think he is going to stay on for another 3 years do they?

I would be surprised if the ACC allowed JB's last game in the Dome to be a non-conference games against Georgetown. My guess is that it will be against Duke (unless the ACC wants to be dickish and makes the last regular season game to be an away game at Duke) so that it use the ratings/crowd for promotional reasons.
If it is Duke then it would have to break the tradition of UNC and Duke playing in the last regular season game. Therefore, unless the game is on a weeknight (where we could play Duke), my guess is Louisville on the Saturday that the regular season ends.

Why not ?

Of course the skeptics, conspiracy theorists will think otherwise.

He has already spoken to Tyus Battle's father and basically said he will be here. That gives 2 years a given. Why not stay the extra year then maybe to chase 1000.

Why can't people take for the word and have to read into everything or spin it another way.

Dave Pasch just said he believes the new AD will absolutely NOT hire Hopkins as head coach. Will be interesting
That is so sad, the new AD will be fired as soon as he interviews candidates for Mens BB HC.

At least this leaves Cuse is a good position. Hopkins has a date, which is what he probably wanted. Also, if Hopkins finds another job... Hurley's coming up at UB and is someone to watch over the next few years.

Hurley wouldn't even get an interview. Buffalo lol.

Syracuse can and would do a lot better than Hurley if Hopkins where to not be the next guy.

I fully expect to hear something on Hop very, very soon. It's more about the logistics at this point, I would think. Yes, you can sign him to some sort of contract but he's doing it with an interim AD, which would seemingly make it a little trickier to make it iron clad.

Supposedly he already has a contract.

Yes, I said in another thread that the ACC won't allow Gtown. Carolina/Duke is always the last game of their seasons, and that won't be messed with. The Ville?

I don't know, if he somehow turns UB into a perennial NCAA tournament team, which he can with Moss and Evans, the ACC/Big10/Big12 etc. will come knocking. Not so different from football.

JB's last game is not going to be up to the ACC. It will be Syracuse's decision.
I just say 'Georgetown Sucks" and I don't want them part of our last personal Basketball dance with Coach.

You don't think ACC is the boss of us? Cos I think they are! I await this decision with interest, but I am in absolutely no hurry for 2018 to be upon us.

Maybe a one game tournament at the end of the season with Georgetown in the dome. If they would accept. Even a four team big east reunion tournament would be fun. At least get Georgetown in December.

He'll climb the ladder. He's not going to get a top 10 job straight from the MAC. More than likely a 2nd or 3rd tier P5 job.

Duke/NCU is their last game of the year.

i know you are a UB guy, but don't you feel we can do a bit better than a young up and comer?

I think he'll end up being a great when all is said and done, but year within the next 5 years SU deserves a bigger name.

The ACC has 15 teams, 14 teams play each week and 1 team gets a bye. The ACC could give SU its bye the last weekend in March and if Georgetown were smart and respected the rivalry they would agree to play us that last weekend in 2018 and get the largest crowd ever.
