When Adam Weitsman called “out of the blue” to ask if he’d be interested in being the team’s head coach this summer, Griffin told him it would be an honor to do it. Griffin has an enduring friendship with Weitsman, who will reprise his role this summer as Boeheim’s Army’s Chairman.

Who's Griff to say no to AW? As has been noted, he does have a day job and that should take priority during this important recruiting period.

Do you think that GMac would have allowed Blackwell to take the job if he was offered? I'd say no.

But AW is all about helping the SU basketball team.

I saw this news yesterday and figured I'd see a thread full of people cheering on Griff. I'm glad that's not the case.

I'm not outraged. It's not the worst thing in the world.

It's just dumb.

This program is a mess. It needs everyone involved with it putting in long days to fix it.

And to be very clear, almost no one cares about this tournament at all. It's playground ball. There's nothing to be learned as a coach. Not schematically, not tactically.

If we were in the midst of a bunch of high rankings and deep tourneys runs, it'd be fine. Still dumb, but fine. But now? Just dumb.

It’s interesting where was all this vitriol when JAB took off off numerous summers to Coach in the Olympic’s? If Cuse Basketball doesn’t show considerable improvement next season then it makes sense. Some here don’t seem to like Red and didn’t from his hire. I’m not saying that he and his staff don’t deserve criticism when they under perform. Let’s give this staff some space to do their coaching thing.
