Which to me speaks of the dynamic of how AW, while trying to help this team succeed doesn’t get it with throwing money at guys to come play ( assuming that’s the case) and then the coaching working out as it did again with the relationships he has that are stronger with Griff…

The hired guys for the most part played like guys getting paid to be out there and help but not all that passionate about winning.

It doesn’t ultimately mean anything … but it’s not a good look for AG. He’s 2nd in command, how much is he helping Red during the game? I still think an older veteran coach a la Phil Martelli would be way more helpful to Red right now.

Yet that’s part of the point is it not? You have a money guy who wants to be very much part of the face of the team and I have a hard time believing he just wrote checks and didn’t put his two cents on where they go. The intention is obviously to help them win but it’s far too much of a fan approach than someone who knows a lot about winning. JB can say these guys are “Cuse guys” now but the reality is who knows just how motivated they are.

That 21 team struck gold with Rice and Sykes and had two obvious proven TBT winners from overseas elite.

Having a guy not tied to the school as a coach was a good move in 21 and one that should have been repeated. The decision to have Griff coach was questionable at first and now it looks even worse.

I sat behind our bench and you could see Hughes was upset most of the game, seemed to be arguing with Griffen at times. Another player I couldn’t identify was also upset.

And Devo was not himself. Seemed in a daze most of the game.
Definitely didn’t inspire the troops. Seemed hardly there

Rak injured his right shoulder in the first quarter. He came back into the game but still seemed not quite right.

The red eye flight caught up with Buddy this game, at least until the end of the third quarter .

It wouldn’t even have been close without our 5-9 point guard. The gent played really hard.

It was so sad, at one point in the third quarter I told my friend I thought this was last season all over again. Substitutions that made no sense. Lackadaisical turnovers.

it’s a bad look for Griff’s coaching ability that he didn’t throw more at Nichols to try to slow him down. We let him put up 35 and essentially beat us single-handedly.

I think that is called "The Orange Way": some guy you never heard of torching Boeheims

Griffin is overrated and so is the whole coaching staff. They have accomplished nothing in there whole careers combined coaching mens basketball. Pay up for a real coach and we will finally see change.

I honestly feel the current Alum coaches literally won the lottery with their positions.
I would have hired Gmac or cleaned house... IMO Autry and Griff are very lucky to be where they are. I still trick myself into believing they are the best coaches for our future, but deep down I Highly doubt it.
I hope I am off base here and I am very wrong, it wouldnt be the first time.

Don’t worry guys, Coach Griff learned from this and will bring his new knowledge to the real season…

Griffin, making his head coaching debut, said he learned some things during the TBT experience. He can store that knowledge, he said, and extract it during Syracuse’s upcoming season.

He can remind players about the perils of hero ball. He can prod them to stay positive when shots don’t fall. He can tell his players that “regardless of how tough it gets, you guys gotta stay together.” He can instill in them the dangers of not getting up for every opponent.

Nothing to worry about.

As for the article, I was hoping to hear from my than Coach and Jimmy. Oh well.

I think you’re right. Hughes was brutal tonight. 1-8 from the floor and a couple of brutal turnovers, including the late over and back. Coaches in these games get caught up in trying to get everyone playing time instead of playing to win. Very disappointed in Richardson, Rak and Wilson. They brought very little to the roster.

He was very different from his performance on Saturday . Looked upset and sulky most of the game.
Gilyard and Buddy were are leading rebounders. Not a good sign when your 2 guards, one being 5 9 , are getting the most rebounds.
Wilson was not good either and McCullough was underutilized.

I was shocked how bad Hughes was. Buddy and Jimmy were what they were here, but I thought Hughes would have improved.
