Braswell

I think it's either or Woody/Bras. There's no way possible to figure out how they both play a couple minutes in the same game.
It’s actually against the rules if you read the fine print. Tough break for us but we’ll get by

As ridiculous as if may sound ... i think it you just stuck braswell at the two and gave him all Buddy’s minutes... we’d actually win more

Haha, I've thought of this scenario...

Gun to my head, gotta play one guy on this team 35 plus minutes a game at SG every game, no matter what, what would I do?

First, I'd explain we have nobody good enough to warrant that PT, and this is an awful thing to do to me.

Second, I'd rank them, and I'm not sure where our current 35 MPG guy finishes...definitely ahead of Sidibe.

Now, if I had to choose a simple majority of minutes Buddy wins, but 35...as a slow-footed shooting specialist (that shoots at a fairly pedestrian clip) in the zone?

Ehhhhhhh, I'm heading off in some wild directions.

You know, if we want to play defense for a few minutes against a team that was absolutely lighting us up from three, I would forget about the press, and put Woody (6-8) and Kadary (6-5) at the top of the zone for a 4 minute stretch until the next TV timeout, with one of the string beans at center instead of Marek, to just challenge every damn shot, fouls or not.

A reporter should have asked JB after the game if Braswell is healthy. It seems to me the last couple of times I seen him play it looked like his legs/shins may have been hurting him again.

Hopefully I'm wrong but I'm afraid Braswell may have trouble keeping healthy.

Love it! I'de try it!

I've said it a few times, when Woody played at the 2 on defense early on, I was very impressed with his footspeed. While of course there are trade offs with offense, I think we could drop him back down to the 3 on offense and move Buddy or AG up to the 2.

I have really been focusing on the entry pass other teams make at the line on us, and I'll be honest, I think this is the single source of a good % of our defensive problems. When teams make that entry pass it puts so much pressure on the forwards and center because of the options that player has. I don't know a lot of 6'8 guys with the footspeed to play the two but that's a potential weapon to play with in my book.

I have heard nothing regarding his health, then again I can't read everything on the board, nor am I any kind of doctor, but for the record, at this point of the season..

1) I see no stamina issue for Kadary for "more" time
2) I see no shin issue for Bras of concern for "some" time
3) Woody looks good to go for "some" time
4) Edwards looks good to go for "some" time
5) Sid is working his way back
6) Not really sure about Frank
7) Buddy and JG seem recovered from COVID

We gotta make sure some things just don't become tropes

The thing I have seen from Bras, Woody, Edwards are them trying to not make a mistake or trying to go to hard (both fixable) in order to get and stay in the mix.

Like I said about Woody above, Bras has some things that are valuable. He's athletic, long, rebounds and can shoot, he's clearly another potential weapon I would try to figure out how play with.

Last point, neither Bras, Woody, KR, JE or Frank duplicate anything we have with our starters.

To me, this is the no-brainer that should make it easier for him to play the bench more.

And like someone else said in this thread, if the rotations were a little more rational and not so damn random, then players would be more mentally prepared when their 4 minute shot came up.

If Braswell transfers I can see him turning into another BJ Johnson the way he can shoot the 3 playing 30 minutes plus a game.
I don’t see that at all. IMO his game is very limited, almost all he can do on Off is catch and shoot although he’s very good at it. I’d like to see him hang around, think he can be a nice forward for us and can contribute as a spot up shooting forward who plays great D.

What could BJ do on offense as a freshman though?

That entry pass is completely undefended with our starters. I quipped recently that all of Richmond's steals come from the other team getting too comfortable passing the ball around. Then he comes in and gets a couple steals he wouldn't get as a starter. I wonder what his Pomeroy steal% is in his first 2 minutes after entering the game.

I'm not sure it's not a real effect.

Anyway, Braswell loves to get deflections and steals. I am not sure if he can dribble, like, at all. But he can shoot a decent percentage and he damn sure plays defense.

I don't think Bras has a handle beyond a couple steps, Woody can get around a little with his handle when he's attacking the rim. Thing is, you can't slack off either of them because they can both hit the 3, Woody can also attack you with the dribble if you're too aggressive on the closeout.

I agree with your point regarding the steals, I would say the trade off if he starts is that teams realize that entry pass is not going to be easy right from the start. They may test him a few times and he does get a couple of those steals!

not sure how to tell much of what they are doing on the sidelines sitting 50 ft from the court.

Wearing masks no less ... this guy must be one of those empaths or perhaps a precog

Any kid who is 6'9 shoots the 3 jumps like a kangaroo and plays solid D is a keeper. I really like this kid hes raw but has a huge upside.
