Braswell

That’s why I’m hoping he stays. If the worst he is is a 3 pt shooter who plays good D and rebounds that’s not the worst thing for us.
If you figure Marek and/or QG leave, that should open some PT for Woody, even w/ Benny coming.
The real issue is will JB use his bench or stick to his patented 6-7man rotation?
I love Woody’s upside but can’t blame him too much if he decides to leave. To be honest, the near future doesn’t look that positive for him- hope he stays patient.

Woody shouldn’t leave. There’s a chance Griff, Q and Marek are all gone (I don’t think that will happen), which means he’d have a chance to start alongside Benny next year. Even if just Marek and one of Griff or Q leave, Woody could be the third forward next season.

I felt good for Braswell last night. He has been buried on the bench of late and hasn't made much of an impact when he has had some limited opportunities. Hitting that first 3 was big for his confidence and he looked good on the defensive end. Don't know what's going on with Woody but he looked really good earlier in the season. Was there a covid or injury issue?

I think Griff will play 35 minutes a game next year. He is starting to get it. Boeheim clearly is pushing him to be more than a catch and shoot 3 point player. That leaves 3 forwards to share the remaining minutes and you know that a 5 star like Benny will see some time. That is what Bras and Woody have to factor in with their future plans.

"see some time"? A 5 star is going to play a lot.

Ditto on Bras...but it took QG getting in foul trouble for him to see the floor. Its so frustrating that his PT is not a regular occurrence.
And yes, Woody had a Covid issue which derailed him for a bit. But he’s been buried under the doghouse since, even though he’s reportedly healthy.

I think it's a very likely scenario that this is the last season for all 3 of Griffin, Q, and Marek.

I don't have any insider info or anything. I just think it's a greater than zero chance. By a lot.

So, yeah, there's playing time to be had for forwards next season, and we only have 1 coming in.

I think Griff comes back. But not the other two.

Bras seems to have a laid back mentality and compares in role to Southerland who he has been compared to by many countless times. He certainly could have the kind of years James did if he sticks with.

If Griff can spend a whole summer adding an improved handle he can be a perfect SG to go with Kadary. Joe is exactly what you need in a backup PG as a guy who comes in and can score and can play 2G when he is hot.

You run a 3 guard rotation at times and switch it around based on matchup. Run Benny/Woody and Bras as your primary forward rotation which is impacted mainly by whether you go 3 guards for a certain matchup. Frank steps in as the rim protector and a big athletic 5 man around the rim. Jesse gets one more shot as a potential guy either as token starter or backing up Frank. We lose Marek/Quincy/Sid and maybe JBA.

I think you bring in a one year Grad Txfr at the 5 if Jesse won't cut it. Be great if JBA gives it one more year to see if he can hack it vs leaving.

From an outsiders prospective, think Woodys gone after this year. Removed all mentions of Syracuse on social media a while ago... seems to be pouting on bench / alienated from rest of the team.
Thank JB’s substitution policy.

I know he hadn't played in a while but I don't think Woody helped his cause when he did return and was averaging a missed 3 every 20 seconds of action. Not that I blame him - but if you are going to fire (as Braswell does too) you better make them or expect the JB hook.

Yes...good thing every player in a shooting slump has to sit when they miss over an extended period of time, amirite?!

What gets me is JB says stuff like Villanova only plays 6 or Virginia only plays 6.
Yeah those teams are winning a chitload of games and have really good players.

He thinks our starters are like the starters during our days at the top of the conference.
Nobody on our team except Quincy or Kadary should automatically play 30+.
Last year it was Carey/Goodine/Washington okay you don’t want to play them.
Woody/Braswell should be playing every single game rotation minutes along with a Kadary getting the majority of guard minutes.

I can’t stand JB attacking fans for saying this.
He just spews practice dictates minutes.
Sorry but I don’t see these guys are complete bums.
Braswell plays good defense. Buddy should never play the 3 before Braswell. EVER.

Hasn’t done much with the time thats been given to him imo. Not enough to earn more.

Would like Woody to get a bit more run.

I don‘t want to lose Woody or Bras. You need these guys if you want good teams. They can both play major roles moving forward. Woody actually played a little two guard back in December. The biggest cheerleader on the team is Frank. He’s always up and encouraging players. All three assistant coaches were into the game last night. I really noticed Autry and Gerry during the game. Gerry also followed Joe down into the corner area after he was pulled in the first half for talking to a ref. Joe seemed pretty upset. Something is not right with Joe. His body language has been off the entire season. This is the first time in his life that he’s being challenged for playing time. I think bringing him off the bench might take a little pressure off him. He could try to be the six man of the year in the ACC. He is still going to play quality minutes. I think all our players would play better playing 30 minutes a game. It frees up 50 minutes for other players. Team chemistry gets even better when a few more players play. It certainly doesn’t hurt FSU. You get the best from your starters if they are rested for the last five minutes.

Completely agree on your assessment of Joe. I'd be fine with him coming off the bench for quality minutes. We are going to lose Woody based on what I'm hearing close to the team. We are really hurting our future by not developing our raw bigs with a few minutes here and there. Marek is a workhouse in the middle but consistently outsized and out of his natural position.

QG should not leave. He needs to work on his handle and shot. He cant make a living scoring against 7 ft guys down low. He can shoot it but needs another year.

If Braswell or Woody or Marek were to leave, would that open the door for Jimmy Jr. to come here?
