Braswell

Really hope he sticks it out. Third shooter on the team once Hughes bolts.

We've had LAX players enter the portal and return.

The portal just means you're exploring your options, and allows other coaches to contact you.

However, if coaches can't make contact until at least April 15 due to the new coronavirus rules, and players have concerns about visiting schools, a lot of players just may stay put this off season.

If the NCAA changes the rule and allows players to transfer without having to sit out, we'll have no problem getting players if we need them.
The problem, as I see it, is that guys really struggle playing in the zone in their first year in the program. Our best seasons (since we went exclusively zone) have been when we have a handful of guys with experience.

So you think Braswell wasn't really injured?
I don’t know what to believe anymore.

...still waiting for buddy’s presser...

I don’t think Braswell has the game or body to ever be able to play a bunch of minutes. He’s kind of an awkward athlete with an extremely thin body. Maybe the leg injuries hurt, but his lateral movements never have looked good to me. Good jumper and a decent shooter, but can he add much more? He’s like a really poor man’s Southerland at this point.

Hope he stays, but I’m not expecting him to ever be an impact player. Hope he proves that statement incorrect.
Braswell moves well and his shot looks good.

As for being thin, he, unlike Marek, was able to put on weight this year. I hope his leg/ankle problems heal because I think he has the ability to be a very good player for us.

I think he was going to see desperation minutes. We've tried everyone else let's try Braswell.
It seemed that JB was trying to work him into minutes, but it was obvious he was having problems moving after only a few minutes on the floor. JB was very clear about Braswell's problems and not in a condescending way.

I agree.

How much did Southerland “bulk up” during his Cuse career?
Or Shump?
Or Hak?

Pre-injury, Bras moved just fine.
He had that one game where he got like 3-4 steals in a short period of time.
And he’s got a nice 3pt shot.

If “all” he does for us is have a career arc like DirtySouth2.0, we’d take that in a heartbeat.

Braswell should be playing twenty minutes a game. He was another guy we never gave a legitimate shot to and if Marek was struggling Braswell could of filled in for him

He gone.
And why shouldn’t he be? What gives anyone any confidence that staying would’ve changed things, healthy or not.
I’m really down on this thin bench/PT situation w/ JB. This is not trending well.

So Braswell’s leg thing was made up too?
A hoax perpetrated by the Chinese and/Ukrainians.
Wait... wrong forum?

About the portal, and coming back after you’re in it... If you enter, doesn’t your (old) team sorta become active in trying to replace you? What happens if they expend energy/resources in recruiting that spot... and you later decide you want to come back? If the team has offered the replacement, who gets the spot? Seems hard to return.

I really hope we don’t lose him. We’re gonna have like 7 players next year... if the season is even played.
Just enough for a full rotation... if JB wants to go deep into the bench.

But sometimes you need those guys off the bench. To have them available from the bench they have to know they have a chance to get off of it regularly.
