Bryant to Indiana

Now that this is officially over, I will say that our chances of landing Bryant have not been good for a considerable amount of time.

For all that we offer, the kid wanted to put as much distance between himself and his mom as humanly possible.

His decision is his own, and my understanding is his entire family is disappointed. But it's his decision.

It is what it is.

Hope he likes finishing in the middle of the pack in the BIG. Indiana won't be anymore powerful with him on the roster. I respect his decision but not his choice.

Does anyone have any real information on DC2's recovery?

shut this thread down, we already wasted enough time and energy on this topic.. peaceeeee kid

IMO the staff realized that Bryant didn't want SU in January and backed off. The sanctions didn't help any but I don't think it had a lot of bearing on him. From his many comments over the months he never seemed to have any enthusiasm for SU, which most of our recruits profess on many occasions prior to their announcement. The staff needs to focus on the 2016 and 2017 classes and get a couple of top rated recruits. Let's all hope that DC2's knee holds up. I'm sick of Mr. Bryant...let's move on.

This is where I'm at with it, I felt that as soon as UK started recruiting him and he was talking up every school other than Syracuse. The only thing I've ever heard him say about Syracuse is that is where his mom wanted him to go.

DC: 6'9", 250 pounds
CO: 6'10", 220 pounds
TL: 6'9", 200 pounds
MD: 6'9", 245 pounds

TL might be able to play the 5. They list Obokoh as 6'10" but I did not think he looked that tall last season. I wish we got a little more out Obokoh. Maybe he will play better this upcoming season.

The nice thing about TL is he's got a really nice looking mid-range jump shot. If DC's knee doesn't last then Diagne is going to have to carry a big load next season.
Actually iirc Obokoh played pretty well in a couple of late season games despite hardly seeing the court all year. I have pretty decent hope that he will be a credible backup at center.

We will need him to be!

There are a lot of poor families that have babies in in this country, and make it work. I don't know their economic situation, but I do know this. His stock is never going to be lower than it is now, he has picked the worst possible time to leave school.

If he didn't have a stellar year next year his stock would be far lower than it is now.

His stock cant possibly be lower than it is now, if he just stayed healthy he would be a lock first round pick next year, probably a lottery pick.

Not surprised in the least and I still don't think we had a scholarship for him anymore even if he'd wanted to come here.

Or, if he enters the draft and does not get drafted then he really hurts his chances of ever making it into the NBA.

Have you ever watched the NBA draft?

What's the difference of finishing in the middle of the pack of the BIG or the ACC?

It is times like these we need a center with heart and hustle like the Senegal snake aka Baye Moussa Keita

I'll take a Fab Melo who goes to class over 10 BMKs.

We went through the same fuss with Tobias Harris. His one year at Tenn was no big deal.

Also, we saw tonight a bunch of talented senior farm boys were too good for a dozen one and dones.

He just announced it on Espn. :bang:
His loss.
NEXT!!!!

We were considered the heavy favorites before and throughout the NCAA saga. Then they announce the penalties (which by the way didn't include a postseason ban next year or going forward) and scholarship reductions so what there was a spot available for him.

I agree seems to in the end be just wanting to get away from home and mama.
I loved my mother very much. But UB was too close to home for me so I ended up 10 hours away in Ohio. And despite my hatred for IU, Bloomington is actually a pretty cool college town and IU has a great traditional Big 10 type campus. It's very near the very cool lake resort area of Nashville, IN.
Lastly, I think sometimes we think our team needs certain players more than the coaches do. If they didn;t contact him for months it was likely not by mistake or neglect. Coleman, Diagne, Roberson & Lydon split the minutes at the 4/5 if healthy. Malachi gets minutes at 2&3. Trevor the 2, G 3/1 and KJo II is the 1. Howard will get whatever he earns and Chino is an emergency 5. We have the #4 recruiting class without TB.
The following year we lose G, Trevor and if he stays healthy probably DC and replace them with Battle, Moyer and Keita. Time marches on.
LGO!

lol you realize the irony of posting that In a thread regarding a recruit we lost to some effect because of the shady aftermath that fab melo caused by being a lazy fool with the brain of a dog.

Of course I do, but a BMK really doesn't improve next years squad very much. When you don't have to even guard a center down low it really hurts the other four offensive players on the court. That was happening a lot his senior year.

I'm sure he can't wait to terrorize some cutters and get a Little 500 team organized.

so you don't think there's a chance the team next year could be very good?

It's really unlikely given that we lost our 2 best players and our top incoming recruit who was thought to be a silent verbal and filled a position of need. Now we have this year's team without Rak. (Not 10 games, remember?) And without McCullough and without Bryant. We have a roster that looks like a Wake Forest team for next year.

Next year will be better. 4 starters returning who will be improved. The return of Coleman. 4 talented frosh coming in. All those combined out weigh what we lost.

And JB will be on a mission and have one of his best years coaching.

Nice optimism, but usually the more questions a team has about a roster, the worse the year will be.

Joseph had the worst season as a PG we've had since probably the mid-90s. Cooney is streaky and will probably not be any more dependable a shooter than he has shown in his past 3 seasons. Mike is an excellent role player but not a starting PG, not a great shooting 2G and not a great rebounding SF. Coleman has been hurt 3 years in a row and is our starting center. Obokoh wasn't good enough to play for a team that didn't have a second center.

Of the incoming kids, we have Lydon, who is the type of player who usually thrives on another team - a Notre Dame stretch 4. When have we ever featured a kid like that? Frank Howard is our next PG who has never played PG before. Diang will probably be our biggest contributor, just because of the lack of options at center.

Richardson has the tools to be a terrific player, but with Cooney and G in front of him, unless Joseph spends a lot of time on the bench, or we play really small, he's probably not going to see more than 15-2o minutes a game - and he could be our best player.

We have experienced players returning at four positions. Last year it was just two. We have the #4 recruiting class in the country coming in and it's likely none of them will start. I don't know how good we will be but I think we will be better than last year, even with the loss of Rak at center.

A) Who has SU's class ranked 4? B) how many of the very best players have committed?

I'm not sayng it's a bad class, but generally all the game changing talent is in the top-25. Mostly top-10. The rest are hit or miss. Mostly 3-4 year program guys at the upper D1 level.
