Bubble Watch - Conf Tourney Saturday (Still Alive)

They finished 1 game out of 2nd.
5th place is irrelevant when the conference was jammed together and nobody won games on the road at best at 1 game above 500 level.

Their resume screams 1 or 2 seed.

They also finished just one game ahead of Syracuse. They finished tied for 5th with Virginia. Nothing they did in the regular season cries out #1 seed. Nothing. They were a middle of the pack ACC team. To be a 31 seed you should be elite during the regular season. If the name on their shirts said something other than Duke, #2 seed.

They've been a disjointed mess. I'd have to check, but I think you're right. Still, I said I thought they were much better and would be firing on all cylinders by year's end. They are. I personally think they should be the 4th number one seed. They are one of the 4 best teams right now but yeah, they haven't had one of the 4 best seasons so far. Tough call but I think they are better than Gonzaga for sure against a MUCH tougher schedule.

That's what I'm getting at. I thought we were rewarding teams for having the best body of work, not the best talent.

What matters is who you played and where you played them.
Nova's schedule was harder they got in.

Jay Bilas saying "it's not even close, Syracuse is in" makes me feel better. I know he doesn't help make the decision, I know he's friends with JB too, but he's a very smart guy, so that gives me a good feeling.

I actually think it's lazier that people have them a 1. They had lost 3 out of 4 before this week. We are giving them a 1 off 4 games?

When we lost to Drexel, a ass't coach of Syracuse said after the game that that game will have us on the bubble come selection Sunday. He was right.

Citing 5th place is what gets my frustration it's irrelevant.
In 2009 the Big East 3 1 seeds.
Finishing 5th in that conference wasn't a problem for seeding.
Regular season standings don't matter for the committee it's the schedule you played.
My point is and has been Duke finishing up 5th is irrelevant. If their resume is top

LOL the sky is blue. Who was talking about what the committee thinks. I said that I don't think that a 5th place team should get a #1 seed. Some people agree with that and others don't. in this case, if the jersey said a name other than Duke, pretty sure the committee would agree as well.
