Bubble Watch - March 10

I follow the Big 10 fairly closely and I even had no idea they were 20-11. The non-conference schedule was not exactly a murderer's row but still a step in the right direction for the program.
Me too. I live in Illinois!

That Michigan kid traveled. Tough break for Northwestern. I thought it was pretty evident even watching it live.

Thanks for nothing, Northwestern.

That will put Michigan above us in RPI.

Hopefully Indiana takes care of them tomorrow.

Sample of 30 latest submissions has been updated.

jncuse... since you follow all of this stuff a lot closer than most of us, I have a question. Doesn't the committee only use RPI for general groupings of teams so that they can look at how many wins a team has against the top 5o rpi, top 100 rpi, etc? I read this somewhere. The article that I read said that they no longer use it as a way to compare teams (i.e. rpi 47 more deserving than a team with an rpi of say 67). That would make sense to me because they, for the most part, will look at the components that make up a teams rpi (i.e. SOS, wins, etc.).

There has been a LOT of talk on the board about RPI. I'm just wondering if the number really means much of anything.

Updated the lead post based on the 55 updates from today. (instead of 30)

Some interesting (and totally meaningless) observations:
People who sleep in really like Wichita St - they were in on 96% of the brackets most recently posted, and only 57% of the ones from this morning.
People who sleep in don't like Tulsa - they were in on 60% of the 30 this morning, and only 28% of the next 25

The gap last time behind last in was 17 to 12. Now it is a closer 25 to 22, thanks to people sleeping in who don't like Tulsa.

This one did not work our way either. They still need to win tomorrow to create uncertainty.

There seems to be support growing for Georgia Tech that is now up to 5 of 55 on the Matrix. That would jump up alot with a win tonight. We need Virginia to take care this evening. That is probably game of the night.

Go Vols. Can't guarantee that we would be ahead of Vandy after this game, but it would be close enough that the committee could go with Syracuse.

GT would be borderline in or just out with a win tonight for me

I agree. Virginia can help us remove that unnecessary tension,
