Bubble Watch - March 10

Go Vols. Can't guarantee that we would be ahead of Vandy after this game, but it would be close enough that the committee could go with Syracuse.
I'd bet that would be one side-by-side they would really really scrutinize - two p5 teams with exact same record who both lost first game of conf tourney - I haven't examined Vandy's profile lately but I think they have a few really good home wins (a&m, kentucky) and that's about it

there resume is actually worse than i had remembered and is worse than ours when i look at it

Vandy's last second bucket waved off. They lose to an awful Tennessee team without UT's best player

Tennesseee has an RPI of 143. Vandy entered today with an RPI of 51 so this loss will certainly drop them very close to us. Vandy is 7-10 vs. the top 100 with a 27 SOS. Their resume is probably better than ours, number-wise, but they're best OOC win is Stony Brook and their 2nd best OOC win is Wake Forest. They now have 3 100+ losses

This is where the Boeheim factor could make the difference. Giving us the nod over a team that is just about equal where they wouldn't have to admit they gave us any credit for the Boeheim absence. Unfortunately, I believe that is our only hope when it comes to getting help with the suspension. The committee isn't likely going to want the criticism that it would very likely get if they were to admit that Boeheim's suspension made a difference. So... thanks, Vandy. We may owe you one.

Come on Turn a Blind Eye St. Even though it's unlikely, I don't want Ohio St having the shot against Michigan St.

All we need now is Miami to finish off VaTech..

jncuse -- does this OSU do anything? I assume they are in with a win tomorrow..

If Va tech wins, wouldn't that be good for us?

Colorado lost to Arizona today.

They have a nice RPI (30) and currently a 7 seed on bracketmatrix. But when compared to Syracuse, I don't see why they're more impressive.

Thoughts?

Are you thinking of RPI -- since we have played each Va Tech and Miami once, the W-L record of our opponents part of the RPI formula will be 1-1 regardless who wins. We played Miami on the road, so it may be fractionally better for Miami to win, but I am not sure if the road bump only comes into play with a win.

The concern is Virginia Tech making a run through Miami and Virignia, and then stealing a spot from us.
