I think we will see more of this lineup throughout the season and that may not be a bad thing. Having Buddy play 5-10 minutes at SF allows for
More time for Kadary and Joe at the 2G. It also allows for more opportunities for Joe and Buddy as Kadary creates, drives and dishes. I think it is a good weapon to have which would put a lot of pressure on the opponents defense. The last few games the staff has experimented to see how this lineup works.

Now, you certainly would have better defense if you gave those 5-10 minutes to Woody or Braswell. There are some opponents where Buddy as SF will not work (UNC). Matchups should dictate where this is possible.

To preempt a few comments and to focus on the SF position, I will say that I think Buddy could rest a little more.

Cuse!

I have no idea if this is what will happen and I have no inside info, but I can see a scenario where Kadary has to be the starting PG next year bc of talent, our full starting front line from this year (Marek, Q, AG) all leave, and Buddy bumps to the three as his normal starting spot. Benny at the other wing. So it would be Kadary, JGIII, Buddy, Benny, TBD Center as our starters.

we desperately need AG's explosiveness and rebounding and the only reason i think we've even seen the 3 guards together is due to him leading the team in turnovers.

i always saw him giving us two years a la Eli.

conveniently, i have some spectacular investment opportunities on shared vacation properties for all those convinced that an NBA team is ready to pull the trigger on an off-ball guard averaging three turnovers a game.

They’ve pulled the trigger on worse

To be clear, when I said I think Griff will leave for the draft, that was NOT a statement that a) I believe he is ready and b) that I believe NBA teams want to pull the trigger on him.

if anyone on this team is going pro early it's QG

I wonder if buddy will ever have a dunk in a game.

Dunk or layup, who cares it is 2 points. But I was thinking about this recently. Our starting backcourt might never have a dunk in their career which is very unique for this level.

Don't forget that Woody's 3pt % is much higher than Buddy's - of course that leads to fewer SU offensive rebounds.

How does he practice so well at TWO positions?

Like AG practices SG so badly that he can't even figure it out, but Buddy practices SF so well that he's ahead of a bunch of guys that practice it all the time.

we need buddy on the back line in order to get Richmond minutes ? I can think of at least two better ways to do that

The thing is, our spacing went through the roof when Buddy was at SF. It's imperceptible at times, but the benefits were there.

I generally agree with JB's position that Buddy hits a crazy amount of hypothetical threes, but I feel like at times we underestimate Woody and Bras's potential to make hypothetical threes and keep spacing where it needs to be.

I actually was so overwhelmed by the spacing I blacked out for a second and woke up at a Best Buy.

There is one major issue with Buddy at SF and that is when he drives it's like taking grandma to church. He certainly can score there but when he doesn't, his lack of foot speed results in a fast break off the miss and it's a sink or swim scenario because Buddy is not a threat to pass it or to get all the way to the rim. While he occasionally finds a layup, those drives in the paint take too long. There needs to be more action off of that given the frequency of going to that well. Four moves and then a spin needs to be a quicker move and either shot or kick out or dump down. This is one area Buddy needs to improve on a lot. If he does I think having him at SF is a weapon in the right matchup. Just my two cents.

Have you seen him contest a three?

Kelly is 5'7" with a set shot and a low release point and Buddy was racing out to contest the shot at times like:

Buddy at the 3 is JB's way of keeping him on the floor because he knows Kadary is our most complete guard and can change the game. Buddy can't rebound and is slow on D at the top or bottom of the zone. I'd rather see a 3 guard rotation with Buddy, Joe and Kadary getting equal minutes. Obviously this won't happen because Buddy leads the team in minutes per game wether he is hitting our not. Braswell is just as good of a shooter as Buddy but can rebound and play better defense so he should get the minutes at the 3 when Alan is out.

Buddy needs to show he has added rebounding to his skill set before this can happen against teams like FSU and UNC. This wouldn't be a bad thing to focus on this year to continue his expansion of the game.

BC was even more undersized than us. Against teams like that Buddy at can work for more than 4 minutes. Against athletic teams, that puts us at too much of a disadvantage on the defensive boards. Can't win playing Buddy at the full-time in the zone. He just doesn't rebound well enough.
