Buffalo Bills 2021 Thread

I would assume the answer is no, but I also will be surprised if Allen isn't ultimately vaccinated.
I tend to agree, but from unconfirmed reports, a lot of NFL players are hesitant to get vaccinated.

Regarding the vaccine announcement...truly wonder whether this is play by Erie County to drive higher vaccination rates in reluctant populations vs. true intentions to mandate it for access to the stadium this fall. I'm not an attorney either so can't comment on whether this holds water or not, but given what Nate shared that the Bills weren't consulted- it just makes me wonder...

Yeah that was my initial thought as well.

In my opinion a private Employer should be able to mandate vaccines... I can't send my kid to a school without certain vaccines so I'm not sure why this is different. There are also ways for NFL to encourage vaccinations... MLB for example relaxes a lot of social distancing rules when 85% of the team has been vaccinated. NFL could easily make a rule about practices and meetings in person that would put teams with large percentage of unvaccinated players at a competitive disadvantage.

Clearly we disagree, but that is likely the route they would go... “strongly” encouraging employees to get the vaccine.

My best friends wife has to weigh not getting the vaccine with the potential that upward mobility in her corporate structure is limited due to restrictions they are putting on those not vaccinated.

That seems to be the way employers can get around it without actually mandating vaccination.

I assume the NFL will do the same, especially if it’s true that there is a lot of hesitancy amongst players.

Polancarz basically admitted to just that on WGR yesterday.

I could not imagine slowing down my career path versus not getting the vaccine. I just couldn't. Too each their own I guess.

Another thought I had is why not combine what you did for the playoffs with the vaccine mandate? Some have the vaccine, others have a negative test result.

Those that wanted the vaccine have it and can get in the game and those that don’t feel comfortable taking a non FDA approved vaccine can still enjoy a football game.

In your completely reasonable solution, Erie County can’t hold a carrot over the heads of those who are uncomfortable getting the vaccine.

Not sure why anyone is so bothered by this. You don’t want to get vaccinated, then watch the games at home.

I couldn’t care less if SU was to prohibit people who had received the J&J vaccine from attending FB or BB games.

and yes, I fully understand that SU is a private institution and Highmark is taxpayer funded, but unless you’re an Erie County taxpayer (like myself), you have no skin in the game, and hence, no constitutional standing.

also, Rachel Bush is a bumbling moron.

Agree 100%.

This take is rumbling bumbling fumbling. Lol

We get it, you don’t care about ppl who don’t approach life exactly as you do.

There is no reasoning with those who shall not be named, as we’ve already seen in this thread. There will be no tolerance for questioning the overlords for whom they so adore.

Logic, common sense, common ground - poof, gone.

This is great:

Yup!

Although, I am getting a little sick and tired of being labeled an “anti-vaxxer”...

I’m anti this vax for myself. Not anti other vaccines. Not anti this vax for others who want it.

9 days to go. Still not sure what I would be most happy with. Gonna just ramble...

Keep going back and forth on if I'd be happy to grab Najee or Etienne to create an exponent on an already explosive offense. Hate the idea of using premium capital on a RB but think that those guys will make every other starter on the offense's job easier by having that explosive threat in the backfield. Grabbing an elite interior lineman has value at 30 as they could level up the running game as well but we've put a lot of resources into Ford, Morse, Feliciano as is. Would not be particularly happy with one of the OTs as Dawkins isn't going anywhere and Williams new deal is basically set for 2 years unless he craps the bed and have to eat $4m to bail out after year 1. Obviously no TEs worth the selection so that's out. Not particularly interested in one of the small, shifty WRs as I think a true #1 RB would be more helpful then what would be a #4 or 5 WR in year one. Would gladly stop Farley's fall if he drops due to health concerns. Imagine the other CB options there would be Samuel or maybe Newsome. Wouldn't complain about either of them. Could definitely use a LB to be ready to take Klein's job either this year or next. Owusu-Koramoah may be a Milano duplicate which may or may not be a good thing. All of the DEs are projects so they're pretty much all lumped together in the same group and would be fine with whichever McBeane wanted since it's a definite need spot currently and going forward. So now that I've talked it all out, I think I would be pretty happy with anyone out of Farley, Paye, Phillips, Samuel, Harris, Etienne, Rousseau, Newsome probably in that order. Pretty interested the more I read about Ojulari but have no grasp on how well he would fit as he was primarily a 3-4 outside guy that doesn't seem to have the size to be a 4-3 DE other than having ridiculously long arms.

I mean, I believe him but saying this could also be useful in a team interested in a RB, trading up with the Bills.

Hmmm
There is a 0.0 chance that he is going to provide any information that hints at what their plans are. I honestly think there is a less chance now then 10 mins ago that they would take one after that statement.

See my edited post.

Kiper/McShay back and forth 3 round mock today:

30: McShay's pick: Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa

Collins can cover, shoot gaps in run defense and rush the passer. He'd fit nicely next to Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano at the second level and help shore up Buffalo's middle-of-the-pack pass rush.

61: Kiper's pick: Aaron Robinson, CB, UCF

I thought about tight end here, but Robinson has the potential to be a starter opposite Tre'Davious White. He's also an outstanding tackler, which is underrated for corners.

93: Kiper's pick: Patrick Johnson, OLB, Tulane

This makes it all defense in the first three rounds for the Bills, who need to get younger on the edge. Johnson had 24.5 sacks over the past three seasons. He could be a third-down pass-rusher here.

Some random draft ramblings from me:
  • RB: I think Harris would fit our offense better than Etienne and tend to think he's the better prospect of the two, but even then, I'm not really confident he's an upgrade over Moss (not even getting into the opportunity cost of drafting a RB early). I would also point out that the track record of taking RBs near the end of the first round is pretty horrendous and submit the following article to the discussion. Offseason Research: Teams Are Never 'a First-Round RB Away' - Fantasy Columns
  • OLine: I don't scout OLine guys but if they think one of the ones available at #30 is good, I wouldn't have a problem with it regardless of position. Dawkins is likely locked in long-term but that's pretty much it as far as I'm concerned. The rest are all year-to-year guys IMO.
  • WR: It's a pretty deep WR class and I think a lot of these guys would help us at least a year or two from now if not this year.
  • Edge: He's more comfortable rushing from a stand-up position, but Joseph Ossai has the physical traits + motor combination that we seem to like in our 1st rounders.
  • DT: Every draft person I trust says to just stay away from this DT class, so unfortunately it doesn't sound like much of an option for us.
  • LB: There should be a lot of interesting LB candidates at #30 though it's not much of a need if we plan on keeping Edmunds.
  • DBs: It seems likely that any DB we take at #30 will be at least somewhat of a reach but it's a pretty good class; we could do worse.
  • As always, a trade down would be nice but it takes two to tango.
  • The names I keep coming back to for #30 are Joseph Ossai, Kadarius Toney, and (insert OLine name here).
