Buffalo Bills 2021 Thread

My opinion means squadoosh as well.

Has Beane or McDermott called Beasley or anyone else a “me” guy for wanting to have personal bodily autonomy?

No.

As for me re Boeheim takes. In the past I have resented ppl for being wrong. I’ve realized that that I am wrong for resenting ppl that do and think differently than me.

That doesn’t mean that I won’t continue to speak up and tell the truth. I just will eliminate the hatred.

You have the right to be wrong.
Honest question: What do you think McDermott was alluding to, by his "greater good" comment, and comments such as:

"people's livelihoods and performances are judged on performance and wins and losses, and some of that is dependent upon other members of the team, and that's why this is a team game"

"being able to count on people is important"

It’s obvious what McDermott is alluding to, but your view of “team guy” is extremely myopic if you solely base it on whether a guy makes the personal decision of getting vaxxed as the determining factor of their dedication to the team.

I think that he is alluding to the fact that they are all there to win. He got hired to bring the Lombardi to Buffalo. And he, especially, is in the spotlight or crosshairs when the wins or losses come. That’s why he’s the boss.

I think he’s alluding to the fact that Cole Beasley is an All-Pro and that McD needs him to win. He won’t be cutting him like the mommas on this thread called for. He’s alluding to the fact that he will be looking for his OC and his QB to feed this great football player the ball so that the Bills can win games. A lot of games.

He’s alluding to the concern over unvaccinated players falling under stricter regulations, if exposed - if infected, which could put all that he’s worked for in jeopardy.

No where, in there, is he alluding to selfishness or inappropriate action or inaction. He doesn’t allude to “distractions” or “me guys.”

He’s alluding to his and everyone’s will to win possibly being affected by things outside of their control.

They didn’t create the pandemic, they didn’t set the NFL’s heavy handed policy. Neither did the vaccinated players, nor the unvaccinated players.

Everyone is doing what they feel is right for them and their families. And unfortunately for big Bills fans like you and me AND head coach Sean McDermott — bodily autonomy and individual freedom are more important than football. Light years more important.

Whoa, hold on, stop the presses. There are things more important than football?

Defense looks similar to last year, which is frustrating (so far), BUT with the addition of playmakers rushing the passer.

Definitely need to play stronger up the middle once the regular season starts.

Epenesa and Rousseau are going to elevate our defense quite a bit playing the way they are.

This is one of my least favorite officiating crews.

My father says the Brad Allen has a “punchable face.”

Somebody should show Isaiah how to flip a photo, but, from what I can see, I’m feeling a little better about the Bills having a better shot of keeping players on the field. #IsaiahMakesMeWannaShout

Gabriel Davis looked like a grown man out there today.

Siran Neal flashed on Defense.

Thought Jake Fromm played pretty well… Not sure if he’ll clear waivers for PS off a decent preseason.

Don't care for the reasoning behind McKenzie getting vaxxed, just glad that he did so.

Interesting caption, though - "For the greater good" - pretty sure that McDermott used that exact phrase regarding vaccinations earlier in the week. Hmm...

Davis's body control and footwork are fantastic. One thing I wanted to see him improve upon from last year was fighting for contested balls/coming back to balls. Hard to say so far whether that part of his game has improved.

I just don't think that Fromm has the requisite arm strength to be a quality backup QB.

Hoping that Frazier rolled out a vanilla game plan for the pre-season finale, because I'm not sure if I can take another season of "bend but don't break" defense. That said, I've often found Frazier's game plans to be uninspiring/vanilla (esp. against KCC in the AFCC last year)

It'll be interesting to see what Beane does on Tuesday at DL (especially DL), WR, DB and QB. I don't think that Cody Ford will be cut, but I wouldn't be surprised if Boettger started in his place.

Going along w the herd is just easier for some ppl.

Seems like he made his own choice to look out for himself and his local community
The big fine had nothing to do with his “choice,” I’m sure.

No longer “free will” - instead it was “-$15K will.”

With cuts/trades coming this week, I would love for us to bolster depth at OT, CB and/or DT, if possible.

We know the Offense should be top tier.. It will come down to our Defense on whether we can overtake Kansas City. The keys to our defense:

-Secondary Health. We have an elite secondary, but the depth is worrisome after Hyde, Poyer, White, Johnson & Wallace. Jackson and Neal show promise, but after that, it gets dicey.

-Edmunds. This dude needs to make the jump.

-Defensive Line. With the investments made, this unit has the potential to be a Top 10 group in the NFL. The pass rush needs to get home and we desperately need our DT’s to be stronger up the middle against the run.

Single biggest weakness is someone who can cover a TE… that’s not a great weakness to have against KC, Patsies, Dolphins. Second biggest weakness is CB2, third is the entire oline… other than Dawkins they are all very average to below average.

Some of our issues defending TE’s were glaringly pointed out by Romo in the AFCCG, where we refused to chip Kelce. We need to be more physical at the release points. I tend to think philosophy/coaching leads to some of the problems that we place on the players. Just not a fan, at all, of the bend but don’t break defense and really hope the DL steps up, because we all know McD’s Defense is predicated on pass rush from the Front 4. You’d think we’d be more aggressive, knowing how good our Offense is, but it is what it is.

As far as OL goes.. Dawkins is a very good LT, and - agreed - our guards are average to below average at everything, but Morse and Williams are both above average is pass pro. Spencer Brown looks very promising at swing tackle.

I think we have an above average pass blocking OL and below average run blocking OL. Hoping Ford and Feliciano can fix the run blocking woes, because in pass pro, whenever Allen has pressure, those two dudes are where it usually comes from. They are both supposed to be nasty, road grader types.

Smith may have the speed to cover the TE. Need to get quality CB depth.

We need to become more physical with WR’s & TE’s in general. Hope to see a commitment to it starting week 1.

KC’s game plan of being physical and forcing the refs to let some stuff go helped them hem in our passing game in AFCCG. It was a major factor in the outcome of that game. In the biggest games physicality, at all levels, becomes paramount.
