We simply can’t know but if we get the coin flip in 2021 I like our chances.
 
I think bottom line the O-line has also been very leaky vs. pressure in key moments, causing the QB to rush plays

Part of the reason why Bills fans have wanted McDermott to make pressure happen on key 3rd downs, etc

Now, why our pressures haven’t generally led to the free rushers that Allen has faced over the last couple years, that’s a good question also

No shame in that. I do wish he had half the luck as some of the GOATs. Maybe Montana/Mahomes would do better in those moments but it's worth mentioning they basically only needed 1 drive all game in their signature moments vs the Bengals/9ers. When JA makes an absurd escape to the left, rope to Shakir on the pylon for a go-ahead 4th Qtr score vs KC (or the dime to Kincaid last week) it doesn't even register as a clutch play cause, ya know. The dirt ball to Shakir on the screen was I think his worst play, you knew a 4pt lead was going to spell death there.

If JA had a better defense then his post season history would look a whole lot better. To state the obvious, it's a team game.

Lol. Go back to the Eagles board. I literally said he's considered the gold standard and had misses. Must be pretty soft to take that as a criticism. People cry about Beane nonstop with misses and was making a point that even the guy considered the best completely whiffs on things. Picking Carter because clubs passed on him because he was involved in an illegal street race which resulted in someone's death isn't really a great point. He was considered a top 3 talent in that draft and Roseman was just the 1st guy willing to look the other way on a garbage human in exchange for football talent.

You've posted about 20 straight negative posts. A billionaire fired a millionaire that coached a bunch of other millionaires for our entertainment. There's a lot of things going on in the world to get worked up for days about and this isn't really one of them.
 
The dumb NFL OT rules still are an issue.

College rule is better for fairness.

Lineup at the 50 and go. You get a reward for a good kicker, the D has a chance and the offense does do.

The current system still leans towards the team that gets the ball first on field position and a 2nd chance to win.

The only thing wrong about current OT is Buffalo messed up and should have taken the ball first. They get two possessions instead of 1. Instead they handed the extra possession to Denver.

It's tough to determine which way is better. What your saying is generally not the case, one of the teams is likely to come away with at least a FG more times than not. Getting the ball 2nd and knowing that you have to score and therefore knowing you have 4 downs all the way down the field is a pretty big advantage. A decent argument to take the ball 1st is that if you were the team that just scored to tie the game that you'd want to get the defense back on the field right away and not give them time to recover.

But the kickoff rules have modified some of this now. pretty good chance you get the ball at the 30+. Now if you dont get a first down or just 1 your punt probably pins the other team inside the 20. like it did for Buffalo. Thats 20 yds of field position and a bad place to start a drive.

I am a first possession always person. By the way the Bears only got 1 possession as well. At this point I believe maximizing your possessions is more important. So is playing with the lead like it's a regular game.

That last point may be a negative for the Bills. If we go up 3 in OT we're all clenching our buttholes with an expectation they're going to give up 6 to blow it, the Jags game not withstanding. I think given the choice we'd still rather be down 3 and get the ball with Josh having a chance to win even though he's had the ball late in playoff games with a chance and hasn't been able to convert outside of the 13 seconds game.

Yeah good luck with that. I was more pro McDermott than most but certainly can see where it was time to move on. The owner fired him and people can debate and tend to agree the messaging and the past 72 hours have been a rough look but let’s not get confused with media piling on making it as if it’s so much worse than it actually is. An NFL owner fired a good coach in hope of getting his team to the Super Bowl he also said it may or may not work. There’s no guarantees but here we are and Pegula has every right to act in a manner that he feels is best for the team he owns. Everything else is just banter and debate. Pegula taking a shot to better his team but there certainly are no home runs and the first step will be getting back to the playoffs next year. New coach comes in and people will be drinking the Kool Aid like a beer after a good round of golf soon enough. And of course some will act as if the new coach will stink which I understand as well but Terry Pegula owns the team and just going to have to let it play out. I don’t really care that old man billionaire didn’t please everyone in a press conference nor does he

Spot on. The reaction to this has been insane to me. Was basically a consensus formed that McDermott should be fired if they lost to Jacksonville and they scraped by and then played a C- game against an inferior Broncos team and people are losing their minds trying to blow up the organization.

I really don't care one way or another.

He absolutely has the right to act in a manner that he feels is best for the team he owns.

My point was that the whole interview and the way he carried himself was totally bizarre.
 
NFL owners tend to be out of touch, not the best public speakers, and also have emotional reactions to the team they watch/own, just like fans
 
I'm still trying to digest this mess. I have been a Beane supporter for the most part but in reflecting on some of the moves, I wonder now.



1)Trades with Minnesota to gets Diggs....Minnesota takes Jefferson who I would have taken in a heartbeat over Diggs.

2) Strangles our cap by overpaying for Von Miller.

3) moves up in the draft to take Zay Jones (2nd rd).

4) drafts Elam with first round pick.

5) gives up a 3rd to get Rasul Douglas midseason.

6) ultimately he is the one who drafted Coleman.

7) gave up a 3rd and 7th for Kelvin Benjamin

It just means, IMO, that the coaches' time was done and the Owner needed a football person to get the next coach...
 
Cowherd actually nails it here. Crazy I know buy why I said Pegula doesn't care much what media says or does and rarely ever speaks to them

I liked it the way it was tbh. Sudden death had to go given how easy FGs are but keep the team out of the endzone. The strategic element on whether to go for it on 4th was also uniquely compelling.

Was it totally fair, who cares. Officiating, scheduling imbalances, injuries & short weeks aren't fair.
I feel like as a fanbase we largely took :13 like a champ and blamed ourselves and I hate that the rest of the league blames us for changing it.
I guess after getting a peak of how Pegula's mind works yesterday though it's not surprising.

College rule sucks, I usually turn the game off after regulation.
