Not to go all Winston Wolfe on you, but your crazy idea will come crashing down when Syracuse has absolutely no interest in scheduling Buffalo every year, and I doubt Buffalo would want to sign on for an annual ass-kicking. The only thing that connects the two programs are the Thruway. Nothing else. No local interest on either side. There is literally nothing that makes this an exciting game (over and above any other game), or one that would foster the intense hatred that keeps in-state rivalries going. Along with the fact that both schools are in the Northeast. Football is not a religion here.

No. I want eastern football to get strong and for the Orange to be the top dog. That takes imagination. Frankly, with the tough decision they play in and scheduling a P5 team, I think it would be fine to play UB every year to spur interest in college football in upstate NY.

I think SU needs to work on being more competitive vs Pittsburgh before inviting another annual potential rivalry. Whether it be Army, UB or anyone.

There’s a lot more interest in playing Army than Buffalo. West Point has a great setting for football. Buffalo offers nothing. It’s a game the University has tried to schedule for years.

I think a lot of people care in Colorado about that game. I'm merely talking about making one of the two G5 teams the Orange play each year Buffalo. Are you super psyched to play Liberty or WMU or whoever else might be one of those 2 teams? What's the downside?

Apparently, not enough people care about the series to continue it. If there was an outcry among the alumni, they wouldn't be cancelling it.

I like playing different teams.

I heard the same baloney when several years ago I advocated for playing Rutgers and now they are scheduled and it appears that many people are excited about it. The only reason that people at Syracuse don't want to play UB is because they are worried that UB will somehow gain something from it. I guess you find playing Ohio, Liberty, MTSU, WMU, CMU and the like interesting. How many times have the Orange played Buffalo , 3 times?

You can call it baloney or whatever you'd like. I don't want to play Buffalo because I don't care about Buffalo. UConn is different. I don't want to play them because I want them to die a slow, painful death. Rutgers, OK. We have to play a P5 team, so we might as well beat them in one of our recruiting grounds. But again, not every year.

The only way we give Buffalo any 'gain' is the amount we would have to pay them for a buy game, or the ticket revenue from all the SU fans that would show up to their crappy stadium.

Like I said, once in a while, fine. Every year? No way.
