@AdamZagoria: #UConn frosh Ryan Boatright will be held out of competition effective immediately while school works w/ NCAA on a review of his eligibility”

Does this open up a scholarship? :D

The NCAA cleared him twice. What a disgrace.

400 tickets for his friends/family at the game tomorrow. I'm sure the NCAA will give them refunds.

there has to be more to the story.

i don't get that either and i don't even like uconn. i know he didn't play out of the box because the ncaa had to clear him. they make no sense sometimes. whether the kid is eligible or not, make a call. wonder if the ncaa was brought additional info that says something prior they were given was bogus?

Double Jeopardy?

Look, if the NCAA investigation was incompetent, that's their problem. Now they're screwing with this kid because they hate Calhoun. Nothing else.

well they may have a point. I lost respect for Uconn when the administration said they would monitor the program, and then allowed Drummond to take that kids scholarship. Legal but shady.

especially being on probation at the time they would allow that. Total B.S.

Interesting ... here is a question. ... or 2. The NCAA has cleared Boatright x2 ... what could they possibly be looking at now? Further, whatever it is how would that effect the wins UConn has had with Boatright playing? Probably no effect. Just what is going on?

What isn't going on?

Syracuse has felt the sting of slow NCAA investigations that keep players out for entire seasons only to conclude that they are eligible to play. Things need to change with the NCAA. I am all for the major conferences separating themselves from the rest of the pack. Right now there are simply too many schools and sports to police with any kind of effectiveness.

You are aware the Andre Drummond isn't using or taking anyone's scholarship, right?

Just finished reading the UConn board ... obviously upset and pissed off. From the info the supposed infraction "predates his relationship with UConn...". First the airline ticket and now this ... this kid had been getting some bad advice and information. As I asked earlier ... the posters are also concerned that the NCAA could vacate their wins ... I don't see how if the infraction predated his relationship with UConn and UConn wasn't aware of the infraction.

Yea, because Bradley decided to be...cough...cough...nice and give his up and pay his...cough...cough...own way.

Who? All I can think of is McCroskey, who missed, what, 4-5 games?

Honestly, the dude who gave up the scholly made the wisest choice of his life imo. He "gave up" the scholly, and once Drummond signs his first pro contract you'd be foolish to think he's not going to take care of the guy in some form of European automobile or similar arrangement.

Boatright's a good player. I actually want him back, because I don't want UConn fans to make excuses for their games vs. us.

This is purely speculation, but wasn't Boatright a USC commit during the OJ Mayo/Tim Floyd issues? Is it possible he received improper benefits during that period. I know he committed as a 7th or 8th grader, so that left a long time for him to hang around the USC program when there was clearly shady stuff going on.

In November Drummond relinquished the schollie back to Bradley... Drummond is a walk-on right now (;))

Drummond and Bradley are the only good guys in this. Of course I knew, it made me sick to my stomach when I heard the situation.
