Personally I have only heard the part about him drumming up hype for recruits on this board. He does have a cordial relationship with many of the national CBB analysts but not so much with the recruiting guys. One example is when Jake Weingarten (and others) reported that Dylan Cardwell was on UConn’s campus for a visit which actually had been cancelled. They looked like absolute fools. If Hurley was using these guys, he would definitely let them know of information that affected their credibility.

In turn, that brainwashes the recruit into thinking they actually like the school (and forget about the fact that the coach is lying) and then they commit.

Or maybe they just don’t want to play in a college zone defense and an offense that doesn’t let the center touch the ball.
