So he was a top 100 recruit in the 2021 class ?

It would of been interesting had he stayed in the 2021 class and was able to compete this summer in AAU to see where he ended up. I think it would have helped him tremendously. The prolific team was awful for showcasing his talents because it was literally the green/burnett show. With that said, being on the prolific team and having those players/resources available to him was huge for his development and practicing/strength training with those guys and that team. Just didnt do much for showcasing his skills in games.

If JBA stays he can play the 4 with Anselem or Edwards playing the 5 JBA has a stretch 4 skillset and 3 point range. He excelled at Weston when teams left him open for the jumpshot. He would be a defensive liability at the 5. But a perfect big wing for us. Kinda like Southerland but not as good a shooter or Lydon but not as good a athlete.
This is correct! As long as he works on his handle and overall game then JBA has good potential to be a 4 for us out of all our big guys. Kid can shoot the rock!

I don't see that as being an accurate projection of how JBA's career is going to play out. He is probably the worst suited in terms of lateral mobility to play the four in our system. He can shoot -- that is true -- but he projects as a stretch 5 and does not have the skill set of a 4 in any other respect besides jump shooting.

When you are big and not particularly explosive and slightly slow afoot in terms of lateral mobility, you are much better suited for the post than the wing defensively. Straight line, he can run -- he's not a bad athlete. Laterally, he is a bit heavy footed. He's nothing like Southerland outside of being able to shoot. I think Anselem might actually have more potential as an eventual 4 than JBA.

I mean regardless of what they wanted him for (backup/redshirt candidate/bench warmer etc) UK did have interest in bringing him in before the Sarr commitment. I think there was talk of bringing him in even with the Sarr commitment. UK/KU/LSU/Bama/GA and the list goes on...I'd say hes a good recruit to land! We should all be happy if he decides to be orange.

I was thinking more of a rick jackson type 4 but actually able to shoot and stretch the floor. Jackson was probably pretty similar mobility wise as JBA is in my opinion. But again, hes kind of a unknown still. I just want to see him play a bit!

I think that sophomore Rick is probably not a bad comparison [in terms of quickness and moving the puppies].
Let's let Frank, load up, and let it sort itself out in practice. The more quality bigs, the better.

At JBA size if he is not athletic enough to play the 5 he is definitely not athletic enough to play the 4 he is bigger than Sidibe....

The idea that there was an era where we played with two bigs is largely a fantasy. Yeah both Onuaku and Jackson started for us, but Rick played about 5 minutes of each half as a 4, and Joseph played the rest. Most of Rick's minutes were at the 5, essentially as Onuaku's back up. Our forwards need to be incredibly mobile, and Joseph was, which is why he played a lot more than Jackson did.

Back then we played a lot of team who played 2 bigs, i.e. Pitt, Uconn, Gtown, etc. so it was easier to play those guys together than it is now.

I am excited but will hold my enthusiasm for him a bit until he verbals here. If he does.

It is good to get a big guy with a huge wing span who can run the court well. When you can get one with a good build who you know is going to be able to get significantly stronger, and he has a giant wing span, you have to take him.

I think he has some parallels to Rakeem Christmas. That is a very good thing.

That's exactly my thought. He would be the highest ranked center since Rakeem too. This would be a very big get if he commits and would make this class a top 40 class with Richmond &, Woody. 2 4 stars and a borderline 4 along with 4 star Griffin. I will take this over what we lost any day. Praying he commits.

I think the numbers next to Marek’s name were transposed. His ranking was 195 and he weighs 111 lbs.
