Calipari to coach the u19 national team

Our coaches are on the US Olympic staff. You do realize Kentucky already gets 5 five stars per year, right? They can only take so many players in each class, it will be more of the same but I don't think it makes their recruiting any better because they are number 1 or 2 every year anyway.

You do know we can't recruit the players on the US Olympic team, right?

Cal will have access to even more kids now, and probably during periods where the rest of college coaches can't even talk to them.

Once again, you can only take so many kids in a class.

This mean he won't be coaching the Dominican national team anymore? lol

I am sure the major corporate sponsors have no say in this either.

How long will it take IMG to be the top prep school?

Agree with CuseFaninVT - This gives Cal even more access to even more top players. Yeah he can only take 4/5/6 players per class, but this lets him evaluate them for longer, more facetime, more opportunity to put on his "show" and get close with the parents. More opportunity to bring John Wall, Anthony Davis, Boogie Cousins, LeBron, etc. around these kids to sell UK to them. Big advantage.

Cal has proven he's going to pull in an all star team every year one way or another. Biggest potential advantage to me is how these teams have guys that are heading into their freshman year of college. Cal can basically use this as a glorified summer session to start coaching his guys and giving them a chance to play together before the official season starts.

This summer when half the team is Quade, Diallo, Richards, Vanderbilt, Washington, etc. it's basically Cal coaching his team against good competition to help get a jump start on preparing for the season.

My question would be--does he have a say in who is selected? Because that would be how he could manipulate the system to either get his soon to be players or guys he wants to recruit / interact with on the team.

And also, that he might be able to begin coaching guys committed to UK earlier by having them on the squad [a la John Thompson with Alonzo Mourning in '88].

I thought Boeheim had a say in who was selected for these teams. Maybe that was in the past and not current anymore.
