Calvin Russell Official / Out Indefinitely

The whole WR unit in 2024 brought almost zero prior year production into the season.
Gill had 570 yards as option #4 and JRS had a down year in 2024 from injury but had 729 yards his sophomore year, Johnny cook was a former 5 star. Not exactly a bunch of slouches there who had not played at the P5 level

Your horrible take streak continues.

Cole is plenty capable of putting up numbers and I believe he will play a lot. Heard he’s doing really well in spring from a few different people close to the program.
Of course he will play a lot, our WR 1 just went down for the year

I am baffled by how people can downplay this injury. It is a big deal from a football standpoint and maybe more importantly, from a recruiting standpoint. I think most of us were hoping that this five star recruit would be immediately successful, which would lead other 5 stars to include us in their lists, and on and on. I hope it is me that is overreacting and that the others here are correct.
I dont think anyone is downplaying it. It sucks. I'm one of this biggest fans and thought he was going to be an immediate star. But you don't cancel the season because one WR goes down.

Now, if Angeli got into an accident with Odom as his passenger, and Lott and Danny in the back seat, then yes, cancel the season. Maybe we should have a rule where they have to travel separately for this reason moving forward?

One of them doesn’t travel at all.

Designated Survivor: Cuse QB edition.

I'm disappointed but again the cupboard is not bare.

Would be a really great for Umari Hatcher to find his toughness and have a great final season. Fool me once...
Thought the same. Lot of opportunities for others to step up, including a guy like Hatcher who has tons of talent and experience. Hopefully he finally puts it all together. It's his last shot.

Agree with you on an earlier post. Nobody’s downplaying Calvin’s injury. We’re downplaying the effect it’ll have on the team as a whole.

24 wasn’t last season

From the sounds of it, appears to be either ACL or Achilles. Wishful thinking here, but Jason Tatum of the Celtics is playing and looking good 9 months post Achilles tear. Maybe, where there's a will there's a way?
Is it a different Jason Tatum you're thinking of? Because he most definitely does not look good. He is very clearly still affected by the injury. It takes at least a full year to recover, usually longer, to be feeling close to being back to original form, if that even ends up being the case.

He came back too fast 9 months post injury Calvin has 17 months to be ready for the start of the 2027 season much more ideal.

Agreed. Tatum's shooting numbers are fairly awful, he just doesn't have the bounce. It's a major injury and no matter how many people think they're the outlier it is always a full calendar year minimum of recovery.

There's no way Hatcher is still in school

By next year’s winter workouts, he should be cleared to lift and have a bigger, stronger body. By spring ball, he should be cleared to do at least some things. By 2027, he should be back making plays. He can use this time to grow mentally and technically, too. His career is far from over.

Guy that works for me played at Northwestern - goes to all there games - says Russell is better than Jeremiah Smith - this is a monstrous loss - is he out for the season?
I’m sorry but Russell is nowhere near close to JS…JS would have gone top 5 in the nfl draft after his freshman year and will go top 3 next year. Russell would have been a HUGE addition for us in a number of different roles but his ability in the red zone is the biggest.

Massive loss overall…need guys to step up
