Calvin Russell Official / Out Indefinitely

Doing some research, this surgeon is known for the "Speedbridge" achilles reconstruction technique, the same surgical technique used on Cam Akers when he came back to the Rams in just 5 1/2 months after tearing his. My guess would be that's why there is a chance that he could play late in the season.
Cam Akers didn’t come back the same and got rushed back I just want Calvin to come back with the same explosion. Just have him sit out this year and get his body right and be ready to be a star in 2027.

Godspeed Calvin. Was looking forward to seeing you play. Take your time healing I can wait.

question:
Who pays for specialty surgery or any type of surgery and medical analysis that are done to Syracuse athletes? University group insurance coverage, the patient’s parents?
Serious question.

Is it a different Jason Tatum you're thinking of? Because he most definitely does not look good. He is very clearly still affected by the injury. It takes at least a full year to recover, usually longer, to be feeling close to being back to original form, if that even ends up being the case.
Triple double last night says otherwise.

For those wondering, looking at Cam Akers stats, I want to clarify the "didn't come back the same" part. He had his injury in July of '21. Looks like he came back and barely played in 1 regular season game and then played several in the playoffs. Doesn't look like he was very effective in any of them coming back that fast though. But the following 2022 season was maybe his best ever. But then in 2023 he injured his other achilles. Yikes.

Syracuse University definitely pays for it but not sure where the money comes from, whether that is insurance etc.

In fact, schools generally pay for high school students they have signed for their surgeries if needed in HS.

I know an athlete that had to have Tommy John their senior year of high school and the school he was committed to picked his surgeon and covered costs associated plus rehab.

Russell will be out until the 2027 season, the 2026 season is far from over. Can still have a very successful year without Calvin, it sucks for sure because everybody was excited to see him play but it should not derail the entire season, 7-8 wins in my opinion should be the goal, if they win 4-5 games it should not be an excuse not even remotely
You’ve been very positive and rational about Syracuse football lately.

Did you get hacked?

Well NIL is not pay for play. So anyone can get NIL. NIL contracts can not hinge on if someone is playing or not.

Right. Just as the United States being the largest producer/exporter of oil in the world, it doesn't need a wink of foreign oil, hence the current gas prices at the pump being simply a 'Grand Illusion.' ;)
