Can Anyone Elaborate on This?

Clery Act basically states that universities must report crime statistics and give warnings of crimes that threaten safety of students and staff. Don't think it applies to the SU situation because the university investigated and found nothing to prove that a crime was committed.

US Education Dept can fine colleges $27,500 for every violation of CLERY ACT (campus crime reporting) Department now looking into Syracuse

Yeah I don't see how this falls under the campus crime department, since apparently the allegations were deemed unfounded and no one was ever charged with anything

Maybe this is why the feds are part of the investigation.

Makes sense for them to investigate...the 2005 report is (hopefully) going to send this down a fairly quick and easy path.

The only way SU would be in violation of the Clery Act is if Someone knew and covered it up. Honestly if that's the case the fines for the violations will be th least of SU's problems.
