he doesn't look like he wants to hit anyone, but I thought safeties were guys that like to hit?

Eskridge is a huge disappointment to me. I expected him to play like an NFL prospect this year. And it isn't just him--our entire secondary is suspect. A lot of people are focusing their ire upon George McDonald, but I think the DB coach is a worse culprit in terms of being the weak link.

I watched himself actually take himself out of the game at least 4 times that I saw. Some were before big plays. No idea what his problem is?

What is up with him?

Same with Whigham. Darius Kelly is the only one that is playing at a decent level. It's almost as if Esk just doesn't want to play. What the heck.

Hurt. Shoulder.
if he is that hurt than he shouldn't play. there were at least a few play where I thought a guy like shamarko would have nailed someone, but eskridge was just sort of "getting in the way".

then he needs to sit if you are out on the field you are held to the standard of your ability

SU's best defense in a long while was the 2010 defense when Shamarko Thomas was either a freshman or a sophomore. The back end was great. Shamarko played with Max Suter the speeding bullet, Mike Holmes who was fast and smart, Da'mon Merkson who was fast and who became a good corner, and then Doug Hogue and Derrell Smith helped out at LB. That defense was laser to the ball and they packed a punch. The tackling was solid. Rashard Anderson helped out and so did Dan Vaughan and Phillip Thomas. SU went to a bowl game in 2010 based in large part on the defensive unit and the back end was a big factor in that success.

If it's true, the guy is out there playing hurt. Probably because even at whatever diminished percentage he's playing at, he's still better than anybody else we have.

Notice how Anomander said he pulled himself off, and then the big plays came? Perhaps if he's on the field the big plays Maryland made in the first half don't happen or aren't quite as big. Or conversely, if he's off the field entirely 4 big plays by the Maryland offense becomes 10. And we get steamrolled instead of purely losing a game that made so little sense.

His NFL stock is due to his size, speed and athletic ability. I wonder if he'll be moved to corner in the pros or get drafted to cover slot guys/TE's.

didn't someone just say that he took himself off the field right before big plays? If that is true, we want him on the field.
