CFP Rankings for Dec 3

They should just forfeit the game then. Why would they be penalized for going undefeated in conference and not make it due to a loss in a championship game. Bama just lost by 3 TDs to a 6-6 team 2 weeks ago. And Bama has 3 losses.
100% this. This is exactly where things get silly when you have teams playing an extra game because they earned an extra game, and then penalizing/lowering their ranking based on a result that other teams don't even have the chance of seeing because they didn't play that extra game.

SMU losing and dropping lower than Alabama makes, not exaggerating here, literally 0 sense.

I'm rooting for SMU. No way in heck does the ACC get 2 teams in and I'll be thrilled if I'm wrong. SMU doesn't bring the $ to the networks like Bama.

Sadly, this isn't that good of a Clemson team this year, solid but not up to their usual standards and will get boat raced in the playoffs.

Well if SMU gets beaten bad do they deserve it? Close game sure.

I really don't think it's fair to punish a team for going to their championship game. Like one team went to their title game and lost so you are gonna reward Alabama for not even making it to their title game to have a shot at losing again. Makes no sense

I was all set to bet SMU Saturday but they're only favored by 2.5. Seems like a rat line.

Miami offense showed up every game. The D allowed pts but still finished pretty high up in many rankings,

Ala Offense did not show up in either loss nor a couple others. The D did not show up vs vandy or Ok neither really a good offense and cost them those games, also didn't show up vs GA.

Lots of holes in Ala other than the QB saved plays.

My thoughts on the comittee and miami in particular. You play who is on the schedule. A lot of teams sign these deals to play each other years in advance. A team can really not control how good or how bad the teams will be on their schedule in a given year.

Miami, played AT Florida, smoked them. Is it their fault Florida stunk this year? And by the way...UF is 7-5 and beat Ol Miss (another potential CFP team). Miami didnt play Clemson, and smoked a down Florida State team, an FSU team that lost only 1 game last year, that everyone thought would be really good. Is that Miami's fault?

Miami lost to a Ga Tech team, that beat FSU, went 8OT with GA...was ranked at some point
And lost to Syracuse, that if you ask us SU fans, was probably a 20-25 rank team all season, but got no love...why? Becuase preseason narratives about who is good and who isn't continue to matter even leading up to Championship week.

The cause of a lot of this nonsense is preseason rankings. Those need to stop.

Rankings are hard to understand because they don't have to explain themselves

Why is ILL 21 ahead of SU both 9-3

ILL played 2 top 10 teams and managed 2 TDs we beat ours
The only top 25 they beat was Neb and only because Neb imploded late.

Sure we lost to Stan a team that also beat Lou. But they escaped 1-11 purdue because Purdue failed on the XP and didn't go to OT2. And it took a last 2nd fg just to get there. So thats a wash

They beat Purdue/NW/Kan/Mich st/E ILl/Cent Mich who were all under .500
We beat 1 team that finished under .500

But ILL SOS is 31 and SU is 71 How does that work?

It's smart to start establishing that narrative now.
Agree. The playoff committee better be careful with how they do things and how they establish precedents.

You can't make missing the conference championship game become a good thing.

The rule should be you cannot be penalized for making a conference championship game and losing.

I think it is fine to give the winning team of a conference championship game a boost but don't penalize a team for having a great season and losing an extra game against a top level opponent.

But that is assuming the losing team was worthy of the CCG and didn’t get their because of a weak in conference schedule.

That is the issue with the huge conferences. Penn State hasn’t proven they are better than Ohio State so why should they be seeded ahead?

We were better off with podded divisions to eliminate randomness.

SEC coaches are complaining right now too. And they’re not complaining that they should expand the tournament to 24 team so they can all be in it. They’re complaining that they deserve to be in it over Alabama. It’s amusing, listening to them eat their own.

South Carolina beat a ranked Clemson team on the road, and they moved up one spot. Alabama beat a bad Auburn team at home, and moved up two spots.

Are we missing a bigger question here?

If UNLV wins, does Boise drop behind Bama?

Or UNLV and Clemson both win? Are both SMU and Boise out?

Also another interesting question if the higher seeds all win the CCGs, with ASU blowing out ISU, does ASU jump Bama? A conference champ would in the 4 team playoffs. 11-2 B1G Champ get the 11 seed and 9-3 4th SEC the 12?

I wouldn’t hold SC’s loss to Bama against them because it was on the road. Shouldn’t automatically put Bama ahead.

And the Georgia Tech QB fumble let Georgia back in the game.

If a team was already in the top 12 before the CCG then they shouldn't be penalized for making it there and losing. I would hope even if they lose SMU is still in.

I know every team in the country can play the woulda shoulda game but just one measly 4th down stop against Stanford and one non-shady onsides call against BC and OMFG what could have been for this team.
Or, if we didn't lose both our starting defensive tackles before Stanford... Perry and Watson were good after a little while, but didn't do anything against Stanford.

They would have been great in a rotation by the time we played BC and maybe the defense didn't get steamrolled.

So who’s everybody going to pull for? I’m going for Tennessee, then Georgia, SMU and then anybody playing against Ohio State, Alabama and Penn State

UGA (best team IMO), Texas (worthy), Oregon (don't like them but worthy), Clemson (ACC would be funny), Boise State (little guy upsets cart), Notre Dame (beat no one), Tennessee (never liked them), Bama (don't deserve make playoffs), Indiana (cake OOC), SMU (bought title), UNLV (would piss me off that we beat them), Arizona State (HC is a maniac), Ohio State (nuff said), Penn State (ditto).

Not sure where to put Iowa State. Normally I would say 5th, but at the same time I want the B12 to fail which means 13th. Really the Top 5 above and then no one else.
