I’m looking forward to Saban retiring and Alabama sliding. Everyone does - eventually. It will be delicious to watch those fans implode.
Lol Cincy beats Notre Dame at ND by double digits and cant get in?
If Notre Dame won that game in OT by 1 point they’d be #2 in this ranking right now
Is Texas A&M the best team they've played? Isn't Ole Miss better?I was shocked the Alabama schedule was ranked that high. The cake is baked in for the SEC and you can't tell me politics aren't involved no matter what. I mean they lost to the best team they played.
Mercer...Southern Miss...meh...Saban and the rest of that conference ain't playing a good g5 school.
Cincinnati did try and schedule hard ooc. Not their fault Indiana has tanked.

Hey let's not be taking shots at MercerI was shocked the Alabama schedule was ranked that high. The cake is baked in for the SEC and you can't tell me politics aren't involved no matter what. I mean they lost to the best team they played.

It usually happens very quickly. FSU was elite from the late 80s until the early 2000s and then suddenly they weren't. Same with Nebraska, Tennessee, Miami, USC...I’m looking forward to Saban retiring and Alabama sliding. Everyone does - eventually. It will be delicious to watch those fans implode.
This is all true and yet in a sport where you might lose 25% of your roster year to year, that we need to factor in how you did in previous years - unless - you are a name brand … is ridiculousSure. But you can't just look at this year. They've built a reputation by beating good teams early in the season and post season previous years so they get some benefit of the doubt until they lose. Since they've looked down and have lost games they normally wouldn't they dropped accordingly. Had WF been blowing out teams this year, I think their argument would be stronger with a relatively weak schedule. It's the double edge sword of scheduling. If you are a perennial weak team that just wants to increase the chances if bowling by scheduling light, you may get overlooked during a remarkable season. Having to schedule so far in advance hurts the timing of it all.
This is why I like my suggestion for the 16 team playoff with all of the conference champions. They, and everyone else, would be able to settle the assumptions on the field.
I know the committee is human and its difficult to do, but they are 100% SUPPOSED to just look at this year.
How does one become a name brand? This is all true and yet in a sport where you might lose 25% of your roster year to year, that we need to factor in how you did in previous years - unless - you are a name brand … is ridiculous
Wouldn’t matter. Notre Dame’s named Notre Dame. I guess its about what fans/viewers/tv networks want rather than who’s deservingWhat if Notre Dame had Wake Forest's resume?
Ok. I hadn't noticed the latest. It wasn't long ago Ole Miss was knocking on the door of the top 10 and A&M was unranked. They have the same record and A&M is ranked higher.
Good points. However, we have to ask ourselves where would Clemson be right now in the standings with the exact same schedule and record as wake this year. I would bet $250,000 that they aren’t 9th
I hate how likely it is that you're right. And it's not that I will have a huge problem with the selection of the teams. It's more that there is a clear competitive imbalance and the selection of the teams for the playoff is simply an illustration of it.I hate to say it - I predict the final 4 being GA, ALA, OSU and OU. (OU will win out. As will OSU).
And I won’t watch a single snap of the CFP.

Syracuse is missing TWO Heisman trophies because of similar BS
After hearing so much smack against our conference this year I’m definitely rooting for any ACC team. Can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m now on board with fully rooting for all ACC teams during the post season. Screw the SEC and Big 10.
Except Pitt.
Never Pitt.
Not in a million trillion years.
I still think it’s all about the name. I acknowledge their SOS is pedestrian but they’re clearly a great team. It’s offset by the other blueberry muffins they’ve played. Their SOS is 100.
Same with me for Clemson when Dabo is done.I’m looking forward to Saban retiring and Alabama sliding. Everyone does - eventually. It will be delicious to watch those fans implode.
It's a better year for parity, some teams have come back to the pack. It's still not great.. Mentioning Georgia as an example isn't that good. They've made the playoff before and have been right there other years. Michigan St has made it once already (2015 season). Ohio State controls it's destiny. If they win out, they're in.Glass half-full perspective for folks that complain about the lack of parity in college football.
#1 Georgia hasn't won a national title in 41 years. #3 Michigan St. 56 years. #4 Oregon has never won one. And while obviously Bama is in the mix almost every year, they have clearly demonstrated that they are beatable.
Clemson is nowhere to be found. Ohio State and Oklahoma are not in the Top 4. Cincinnati has never won a national title and they're still very much in striking distance at #6.
This is a good year for parity.
It's Alabama they are a brand. They might not win 7 titles in 15 years but they aren't turning into Rutgers.I’m looking forward to Saban retiring and Alabama sliding. Everyone does - eventually. It will be delicious to watch those fans implode.
Agree. Even Oklahoma is still undefeated even though they have had some close games. I'll wait a few more weeks and see how things look. But I don't think Eric's argument for parity that he often makes will hold up very well this year, with the exception of Clemson not being in it.It's a better year for parity, some teams have come back to the pack. It's likely we'll see at least 3 of the 4 spots, if not all 4, filled by teams that have been there before.
