“‘Cuse is the hometown school,” Girard said. “They’ve done a good job with players like me, as well, with (assistant coach Gerry McNamara). He always calls me a few times a week, too, just tells me that there’s really no better person to learn from with him — a guy who played like me. He’s been through it, he knows how to help me and he knows how to help my game to produce at the next level.”
Girard said the Blue Devils view him as a “glue guy.” “They’re going to get the one-and-done five-stars and people like that,” he said. “But every year, they’re going to need somebody to rally those guys around and I’m going to be a multi-year player. That’s how they see me.”
